Hey guys, I am a new rider and looking to purchase my first Buell. I have been looking at a couple 2003 xb9r and xb9s bikes and was wondering which would be a better fit comfort wise for a taller rider. I am 6'3" and have heard that the shorter wheel base will make me feel cramped and uncomfortable. Just wondering what kind of experience you guys have had on them. I am not going to be going on a lot of all day cruises, but I would like to make at least a few this summer. I know that the xb9ss is a little longer and seems to fit taller riders better, but they seem to be few and far between. Any advice you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot and I love this site! |

IMHO 9S with the CityX seat is going to be the tallest/most comfortable for ya. Standard XB9S seat height is 30.1 inches Standard XB9SX seat height is 31.4 inches (Message edited by barker on May 10, 2008) |

im also 6'3",Iv got the 12s and ended up getting crossroads bars 2 help stretch out a little.Iv sat on the 12r and I think the seat lets u move around a bit more.the lightning seat holds you in one spot.I also had 2 adjust the brake lever so I can reach it with my boat feet. Its not the ideal bike 4 someone over 6' but I wouldnt trade it for any other. |

12r also has higher foot pegs but can be changed. |

I suggest a combination of above. XB9S with the cityx seat and the crossroads bars with the -7degree down. I have this on my 12s and it give me a lot of space to stretch out in and the cityx seat doesn't have the dip in it to keep you in one position with your height. Firebolt might be a little tight. |

firebolt should be good, i'm 5 11 and have plenty of room. i suggest going to the dealer and sitting on some bikes. have your wife or friend take pics of you on each of the bikes also. the buells are small bikes. a lot of big guys look funny as hell on these things. |

more flexibility in the seating arrangement on the cityX. But if you can swing it, get a demo on the TT or the SS. There should be a good supply of those around, esp since the white side number plates didnt seem to be the hit that it was intended. There are a fair share of them out there. demo , demo, demo you will find your favorite. |

Do what I did. Get a 12S and put a cityX seat on it. Very comfortable on my legs(and on my backside). |

That's odd. when i'm riding, i can't see myself on the bike at all. oh, you're concerned about what other people think, i see. who cares what other people think? |

I'm 6'4" and more comfortable, for longer, on an R than an S. Most comfortable on an Ss or my Uly...but if you're looking at '03s, I'd go for the R with S pegs - you get a longer reach to the bars (good for tall guys) and with the S pegs you get a foot-drop so your heels aren't up your butt. If I ride a std wheelbase S, I have to ride on the passenger seat. No kidding. +1 on the TT though. Rides, handles and feels like a tuber (more room). |

I'm about 6'6".I have no problem with all day rides. All I have are the pegs that drop a 1".Made a huge difference.I've been looking at getting a select seat but now will try the cityx seat. I don't worry about what other people think as I've heard them all in over 2 years of riding my XB.What I hear most is that bike is bad. |

Im 6'4" and ride an 05 city X. I definately dont sit in the passengers seat. Im not saying that I wouldnt fit better on a TT (I wasnt aware there was a TT before I bought the city X) but I wouldnt rule out the city X, as im very happy with my fit on it. |
