I know there has been many discusions on how to make both lights go on at the same time. I havent seen anyone post this particular way but if someone has than think of it as a refresher. All you need is a diode that has a rating of at least 6 amps and if it has a minimum voltage rating make sure it is less than 12 volts. Most just have a maximum volt rating. All you do is hook the diode in between the positive lead of the low and high beam. depending on if you want both beams on when you switch to low or high will depend on the direction of the diode. If you want both beams on only when you switch to high than you would hook the positive from the low to the side of the diode that has the line at that end. that will only allow voltage from the high beam to flow through when it is switched to high thus turning on the low as well. Hope this helps some of you. You might be able to pick up the diode at radio shack or go online to allied electronics. John. |

that's another way to do it. kinda like re-inventing the wheel, but i give you an A+ for your ingenuity |

Tried that but my switch would not stay in the middle. I guess my switch isn't cool like yours. |

Here is a link discussing how to have both head lights on. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/196130.html?1147187087 |

+1 for switching the wires. I'm not sure if I should be linking this thread but here's what I did. No splicing or adding anything to get this working. Just switch a couple wires around. http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=810&highlight=headlights Very ingenious idea about the diode though. I just bought a Firebolt. I does this from the factory. Of course, my headlights are about as good as a couple of pocket-sized mag lights, but that's another thread... |

Forget the diode, I just literally just did this and it took me all of 3 minutes. Switch the low beam wire (yellow) with the running light socket wire (orange/white), in the harness. Just need a jewelers flat head screw driver to release the tabs holding the wires in the harness. It took me longer to type this than to actually do it. lol |

if you are having trouble, go out in the bright sunlight and look down inside the plastic and you can see the orientation of the little clip that you must raise to release the wire.. i have developed a special tool for this purpose (see pic).. i can sell them for 20 bucks, shipped!

you can use the high beam wire to switch a relay and run both lights at the same time. I did it last year on my bike, I'll try to get some pictures and wire colors by the weekend. |

Is it possible to run both lights at the sametime on the firebolt, without one of them being on highbeam? |

I did the wire switch, but I did it so that my low beam is now the old single high beam and high is both on at the same time. I guess I'm in trouble on a foggy day as I do not have a true low beam anymore. |

The wiring harness is located 2 inches above your headlights, take off the fly screen and follow the wires from the headlight if you have trouble distinguishing which one it is. |
