As the thread states, I love my Buell's but I've been dreaming of a duc since the 748 came out, so I just got a hold of an 848. If anyone out there knows of a site like the badweb that caters to Ducati enthusiasts I would appreciate the info. |

I love my Buells but the 1098/848 look like sex on wheels. If they live up to half the hype then it should be an awesome ride. I'd love to have an 848 but alas my wallet won't allow it. |

I would like to pick up both a 748 Ducati and a 675 Triumph to fully furnish my garage...to join my XB of course. Hope you enjoy your new 848, let us know how it rides. Compare a Duc to a Buell -- thats like comparing a Arabian on speed to a Clydesdale on steroids. |

You suck! I'd love to have one of those bikes! Search ducati message board. You may even find it if you search duc pond |

Thanks for the info guys, I pick the bike up in two weeks so shortly there after I'll have some driving impressions for you. I will bring it to the inside pass track day at the new Thunderbolt raceway in New Jersey in September. I'll get to ride it like it was built to be ridden. |

The 848 has the sweetest sounding exhaust tone, I wish I could make my Buell sound like that. Do let us know your riding impressions when you get it. |

The 848 looks like an outstanding bike. Were I to do it again, I would still choose my XB9SX, but I would not blame anybody for a second for choosing the 848... Great time to be riding motorcycles! |

IMHO its all about what you want The ducatis's while sexy as hell are not comfortable for any long stretches of street riding Yes they are incredible bikes, but, once again, IMHO, they are race bikes Buells are street bikes. If I could afford both, I would want both, but because I can only afford one, I choose Buell. |

Was on my way to the Ducati dealership to buy when I thought I would put the tick in the box to say I had ridden a Buell. Did not make it to the Ducati dealership. Apart from the way the bike runs, handles and feels the other consideration was the 8 hour ride to have the Duke serviced as opposed to being able to do it myself. If you are looking for a serious Ducati then try the site Supersqualo. It is an Australian firm who have supercharged a 999 and have been receiving good reviews from the international press. |

I have a 675 and an XB9.... I'll take the Buell for the street any day. The 675 is amazing on the track. I just rode at Summit point, and one of the CRs had a brand new 848R. If I had the cash, I'd be at the dealer today. They are beautiful, fast, and sound great. Very cool bike. |

The ducatis's while sexy as hell are not comfortable for any long stretches of street riding I beg to disagree. Heli-bars, a Corbin saddle and Cycle Cat rearsets make the bike just as comfortable as any Buell. More with the: "It's Ducati, it must be uncomfortable." Mine heats my legs from the exhaust pretty bad in traffic. You'll never hear me bitch about it, because quite frankly, I don't care. I love the bike for all it is, regardless if you can find something YOU don't like about it. I see you listed heli-bars on your mods. Guess your firebolt wasn't too comfortable on long rides either. Actually I think you agree as you had to change 3 things to make yours more comfortable.

Actually I think you agree as you had to change 3 things to make yours more comfortable. Had the same mods on my Buell too. Your point now being? Don't throw stones you can't catch. Smokescreen |

PaaaLease I caught that and threw it right back at ya. You apparently didn't like either stock. I stand by what I said Buell is a more comfortable street bike But I would still love to own both. The 748 is my fav Duc |

My bike didn't come stock smartazz. So I couldn't comment on the ergos. You stated: The ducatis's while sexy as hell are not comfortable for any long stretches of street riding Now why would you do that? You had to change shit on your bike to make it comfortable too. So in turn YOUR Buell isn't good for long rides either. I was simply pointing out you were quick to throw an assumption you had no knowledge of. You ever owned a Ducati Superbike? I currently own one and you can see my profile for the Buell. Remember, better to be thought a fool, well... you already opened your mouth, so much for that I guess. Smokescreen |

You truncated my quote. I started off my whole reply with IMHO I didn't throw out an assumption, I stated an opinion. An opinion based from my experience of riding Sport Ducati's It doesn't matter if yours is different, my opinion is my opinion and that's what I stated. My next reply was a joke, hence the smiley. It's a forum, People will post opinions different from yours. I am glad you are happy with your Ducati. I like ducatis as evidenced by 2 of my posts I am sorry you feel the need to resort to name calling. I wont stoop to your level. I hope you feel better about yourself now. Way to bring the conversation down. My OPINION, however, remains the same |

An opinion based from my experience of riding Sport Ducati's And what does that have to do with an 848 Superbike? You are right, it is your opinion. A non-fact filled opinion. No name calling. Smartazz was meant to be endearing. Just clarifying that the mods you list on your Buell are for the same reasons you state a Duc isn't good for the same type of riding. You are correct, it is in what you like. I love Buell's, but they are NOT anything close to a Ducati. Comparing either yields the same results (see CW's new 1125R vs. 848 article). Someone mentioned somewhere a Buell is like a 'vette and a Duc a Ferrari. Now you think those two can fairly be compared? Sorry for the snappy reply. Just don't appreciate people making public opinions of bikes they have not ridden. I don't comment on MV Agusta's, or BMW's, why? Because I haven't had the pleasure of riding one. So, MY opinion on them wouldn't be fair, nor accurate. Smokescreen |

Why does this happen anytime someone mentions the D word on this board? To quote Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?". |
