I changed/upgraded my drive belt about 2 weeks ago. Since then I started to notice a WRRrrrrr sound on decel. I thought it was the belt at first setting in. But today I noticed it starts to kick in on decel at 30 mphs all the way down to a stop. I coast down to a stop from 50 mphs or so, even with the clutch pulled in and dont rev the motor and it sounds like the WRRRrrr sound decrease with speed of the bike? Its got me worried because I have never noticed this before.. Is that typical because of the new tension of the drive belt. Or might there be a bigger problem? Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks |

hm. Is the belt showing abnormal signs of wear or rubbing? It could be the belt. Course, it could be just the noise of your break pads running over the cross drilling on the rotor too. |

When I back my into the garage at night the brake pad rub sounds like a grinder going at it. Check to be sure the belt is not rubbing on any of the guards anywhere |

Could this job have changed the primary drive chain tension? If it's too tight it'll make a sound like what you describe, and is not a good thing at all. Pop your clutch inspection cover off and check chain tension per the shop manual instructions. |

Just did mine and same thing. I have an 03 XB9S. I replaced -front sprocket (from 05 12R) -rear sprocket (from 05 12R) -belt (brand new 06 belt I think) -and belt guards (05 12R) then I learned the idler pulley bracket is different so I got one on order. and havent rode her since. But I rode her to a demo day and noticed the 1125R makes the same noise as my bike now does (same noise you are talking about!). But since I found out I needed the different bracket she has been sitting. parts should be in next week. I'm thinking it might be how the setup is???? I'm also replacing the bearings in the idler pulley once they get in next week too. Also noticed when backing up my belt will slide off the tensioner, but I'm betting its due to the wrong bracket. P.S. if anyone needs idler bearings send fullpower a PM and he can hook you up with the good stuff and a good price! He runs a alternator & starter rebuild shop and replaced tons of bearings year round, so he buys in bulk. |

sounds like your primary drive needs adjusting. i had the same problem, sounded like i had a turbo with a blow off valve inside my transmission. does it still do it when the bike is in neutral and the belt is not turning? |

Eventhough I didnt do anything to the chain I checked it anyways.I checked about 15 spots on the chain last night. The tight spot is at 3/4 inch. After that it dawned on me it doesnt matter because it does it when Engine is at idle and the clutch is disengaged and I am coasting to a stop/ or riding under 30 reguardless of gear, clutch. It has to be coming from the Clutch to the tranny to the final drive. However it sounds like it is coming from primary side which is weird.
