My sidestand is busted! One of the screws that bolts on to the engine block is completely sheared off, the other is loose. I had to leave my XB propped up against the wall until I can get to it. Now here's the worst part: I'm going to go to the local Harley store to order two screws (might as well swap em both) and I KNOW the parts guy is going to have to "special order" them. AAAAARRRRGGHHHH Do I have to remove the muffler to get in there? Now that I think about it, I need a stand to prop the bike. AAAAAARRRGHHH |

Why not just go to your local hardware store and buy a couple of grade 8 bolts and be done with it. Stronger than stock, cheaper, and readily available. |

You should have enough room to get at the bolts. I caught mine backed out about 1/2 way when everyone started posting about the problem a while back and was able to tighten them up without any disassembly. I slathered them in red locktite and never looked back. |

Hate to break it to ya, but you have to drop the muffler to get the bolts out. I removed the bracket on my race bike, and the stupid bolts are so long they hit the pipe before they're all the way out. They seem to be a lot longer than they need to be! Oops. Sorry about giving you bad info. I didn't take them all the way out when I had to deal with this. |

Thanks for the info guys! I'm starting to look at the brightside here. Like the fact that I didnt find my bike laying on its side like I could have. Garyz: Thats some great advice. I think I'm gonna head down to Home Depot, slather some locktite and be done with it. Re Dropping the Muffler: AAAARRRRGH!!! Ok, it's a project now. I had nothing to do this weekend anyway. |

I had my sidestand pivot bolt snap, I replaced it with the updated part. Has there been a lot of bracket bolt failures like G2's here? |
