did a little dissection and painting today removed my inner air box(whats left of it, from its last surgery) and base plate and painted them silver(very close to the frame) outcome made a huge difference.       (Message edited by ustorque on April 24, 2008) | ||

no the paint did not make it louder.  i know what you meant, i cut the air box a while back, you get a little more intake noise but not too bad. | ||

LOL @ Damnut and his propensity toward uber-macho blackout.  Ustorque, looks great! Very professional looking. What did you use to do the cutting? I tried to add matching left side cutouts on my airbox with a rotary tool, and it looks like a rat chewed them out for me! ~SM | ||

In terms of volume, it gives a really cool "hoooonnnnnkkkkk" when you whack open the throttle. I like a quiet exhaust (and went back to stock) but don't want to give up the intake honk. It does not reach any pain threshold for the rider, and it is moderately loud from the riders perspective, but I doubt it carries far, so it should not be an annoyance to neighbors and such. | ||

SWORDSMAN..i originally cut some additional holes with the dremel and looked as you described...when i went back in i marked what i wanted to remove with a sharpie and i cut it with my jig-saw. and also DAMNUT may have a point with the gay thing had a lot of men lookin today...but hey what do i care makes my chances better!  | ||

What are the 2 bolts on the left hand side of the base(as your sitting). I have an 03 and the stupid "air intake" hole is there. Is that another mounting point for this base, or is something else attached. I have been thinking of buying an updated base so I can cover up the hole. | ||

I had them arranged under my Clear Airbox on my CityX and I used to get comments all the time. I only switched them on when custom choppers had theirs turned on. Funny how the attention changed to the Buell vs the almost $40k custom dime a dozen |
