Also, the frame/swingarm on a 9 are silver, on a 12 they are dark gray/graphite. |

+1 for Jimmy, The pipe on a 12 is larger in diameter. If it looks thick, its a 12. |

"Start em up, the 9's exhaust note sounds like "Greensleeves"" ~~~>Spidey I disagree, my '03 XB9R very definitely plays "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" from the Nutcracker. |

The very astute observer may also note that there is a label on the handlebar clamp and the flyscreen on the Lightning that contains the model number. Of course, I have removed both of these from by bicycle. I detest unnecessary decoration.

the frame pucks are different. 12 has longer bottom half, and also is swept back at a steeper angle.... i hit my knees on the bottom of them. another reason why i ride a 9. the 12 has taller gears, but can wheelie easier. must be those extra 219 cc's.... |

Ride it and you will know the difference. 9s are smooth as. 12s are like your girlfriends father - cranky as hell and ready to rip your arms off. |

My girlfriend's father is mostly out of the picture and lives in Florida half the year. Are you saying when I get on my bike it won't even start, but somehow magically transport me to warm weather in the winter? |
