PLease see this post:

Parts arrived today. So I run into the garage slap everything together and find that she only will shift in and out of one gear. Depressing the clutch makes it no easier to push around. Don't tell me the 5 turns in town I had to take in 4th gear damaged my tranny! What the f#*%???!!! Every time I think that I am gonna get to ride her something else goes wrong! Starting to get unmotivated about this...

you need to sit on the bike and downshift, while doing that move the bike forward/backwards and you will feel the bike going to the lower gears.

Did you try taking it for a ride? The bike will still pull away from a stop in 4th, just needs a little bit more feathering of the clutch. It is a lot easier to shift gears when the engine is running, and rolling helps too.

makes no difference whether the bike is running or not.

Oh I forgot to mention, don't pull in the clutch when trying what I wrote.

I def hear ya on the fact that " Every time I think that I am gonna get to ride her something else goes wrong!"... I have already had, bad temp sensor at 1200 miles, battery cabeling rubing on battery and causeing a short blowing a relay 2 days before bike week. Blew out my belt at 4500miles. Then I had local harley do a 5000mile tune up, and what do they do come to me and say im sorry to inform you but ur rear cylinder spark plug has been stripped. I ran a tap down it put a new plug in it and you should be fine, ya right bike week the following year which was the spring after they did the work in the fall my spark plug blew out ripping all the threads. So then I had to rip the whole motor out take the head to a local cnc machine shop and have them helicoil it. What a nightmare. I am just now getting it back on the rd. Trust me buells are fun but really do suck at times.
