Another thing to consider - and that is IF you have a Pirelli dealer at your track, they almost always change tires for free (if you buy a pair) - you could swap your street tires for Diablo Corsa III - and then swap them back at the end of the day. I'm just thinking out loud. (Message edited by slaughter on April 25, 2008) |

I've been running my Corsa III's at 32 front, 36 rear for street use. I believe I got these pressures off their website, but it's been over a year since I started running these tires and don't remember where I got that for sure anymore. I've never broke traction on the front no matter how aggressively I've ridden, but I have had the rear slide out on me a little from time to time. Can someone briefly explain what happens to tire temp. and traction when you raise/lower the pressure? I assume lower pressure equals more traction and higher heat to a point, and the trade off is shorter tire life. Correct? At these pressures, I've been getting about 6,000 miles out of the front and 3,000 out of the rear. |

Another member told me that Buell recommended 34 front, 36 rear for the Syncs. I find this works very well for me. My XB9S manual, for the original Dunlops called for 36 front, 38 rear. |

I loved my Scorpion Syncs. When I traded in my 05 for an 06 Firebolt, they had the Dunlops on it and I had no confidence at all Soooooo I went and bought a set of Pirellis I am very happy with them now Like everyone says, tire pressure makes a gihugic difference. We had a big difference in temperature and that made the bike feel like it was plowing, so I re-adjusted the amount in each tire. I am small and light and 30 30psi seems to work well I am going to try dropping to 29psi in the front to see how that feels due to the above recomendation |

All this talk about tires I have a few questions. I have been thinking about getting a set of Metzeler Sportec M-3. I used to see people say great things about them. Now not so much is their a reason? And if they are sill a good tire what kind of pressure is recomended? |

Xb9rrnutt, When people say great things about a tire. Keep in mind what bike they are on. For example Dunlop 208, are great on some bikes but are total crap on the geometry of a buell.. |

I have nothing to compare to but I love the scorpion syncs on my xb9. They seem to hold the road very well. |

My first replacement tires on my XB9S were Metzler Sportec M-1. I thought they were an excellent tire. The say the new M-3 are even better. I had to get them replaced because of a puncture and could only get Dunlops or the Pirelli tires at the Buell dealer. The Dunlops that came on the bike I had taken off and thrown away with less than 1000 miles on them (Real garbage) I am very happy with the Syncs, maybe a little more than the Metzlers. |
