Here's the deal. Im torn on buying a used 07- All stock, 5,600 miles for $8400, plus new rear tire and completed 5,000 mile maintenance or just buying a new 08. The seller is starting piss me off. Hes draging his feet. He has this nonchalant attitude about the whole sell. First he says the bike should be ready by this Wed, know not until Thur or Fri. Slow on getting the title. He's having a buddy put on the rear tire, and it almost sounds like the maintenance is also being done by him also. I clearly told him several times that I wanted documentation on everything(ie... bring it to a HD Dealer). When I first saw the bike I asked him if he kept up with the maintenance and he said o-yeah. But then acted like he never heard of a 5,000 mile maintenance? The dude works for HD, so he should know his shit. Told me has owned several other bikes in the past. I know he's trying to save a buck, which is bull shit! I don't know, pisses me off. |

There is no shortage of new or used Buells. If there is anything at all that you find disturbing about this deal, I might recommend just walking away now. Deals like this can get better, but in my rather lengthy experience, they almost never do, do they? You are buying a bike for fun, right? When it stops being fun, stop doing it. Just my .02ยข |

Well seeing as your not mentioning in your post weather or not its a 9 or a 12, my thoughts are if its a 9 buy a brand new one. Just because he works for HD doesnt mean he knows his ass from his elbow. I had my bike serviced and the monkey went and stripped my rear head putting the spark plug back in, what does he dare to do state that the threads are messed up so he ran a tap down it. Long story short hmmm nope never took the head off, ran tap into completed motor, ran tap down cross threaded holes, ever see a spark plug jump out of a hole taking all threads. Not fun, Now on Im doing my service myself. With that in mind, if hes so nonchelant about it tell him u dont give a sh*t either because I guarentee you its not that big of a deal adn theres someone else out there that wants to sell you there bike and would make sure your happy with the deal. WAAAAALLLLKKKK AWWWWAAAAYYYYY |

If there is any doubt . . . . there is no doubt. Well said. Buells are everywhere (for many of us), and to be honest, that's not a very good price anyways. It's not bad, but not good enough to deal with any B.S. |

Yea, I would walk away on that deal. I got a 2004 XB12R with under 5k miles on it for $6k. It has mods as well, and bought from a dealership. |

What they all said. WALK AWAY. Look for a different used bike or just get the new one. |

Just because I work at a hospital doesn't make me a neuro surgeon. HD has secretary's and janitors too |

Step back. Remove price from your calculations. That's just money. Now look at the deal and your words. I submit it would probably be a "bad deal" if the price were $1,000 or $10,000. The price has NO EFFECT on the "good" or "bad" of the deal, only on the way you feel about it. (technically known as cognitive dissonance) No one here can tell you. We're all dealing with small pieces of the puzzle not knowing where the sides are. But your words sound strikingly familiar to what many of us have been through. Motorcycles are entirely for FUN in the United States. You need to have more fun. |

Yea, that sounds WAY high for a bike with 5600 miles on it..no matter what year it is. I think you can find better. Hell, I've seen brand new ones on eBay for less. |

My kid just bought a NEW left over '07 XB12STT at Suburban in Thiensville for $8000. (had 2 new tires!......) Shop around, you can do better than that. Plus, it sounds like the guy you're dealing with is a hack.... |

The dude works for HD, so he should know his shit. Read what you just wrote.... I bought my bike as a left over, Brand new for 7800 out the door.... Walk away from this idiot!!!OR offer him 6k for the thing. He is not going to sell it at the asking price unless it is to a new bike owner who doesn't know any better. |

Check all the dealers in your area first. I'm seeing quite a few new 2007 models on dealer floors that are going for dealer cost. That gives you 0 miles and a fresh warranty. happy hunting mike |
