i noticed today that when i take off from a stop, right about the time i let the clutch out fully, the bike wants to jerk.

i can find all gears, and neutral very easy. It shifts fine, just that wierd jerk.

i found myself dragging the clutch alittle longer on takeoffs, but im not sure how good that is on the clutch.

I adjusted the cable last week because i had a tad bit of free play...thats still good..

i guess next would be the primery chain?

i figured that would only need adjusted if you had problems finding neutrel and or your gears.

could my cable be bad?

not sure what else to check....

now that my 2 yrs warrenty is up, im doing all the maint. myself. I guess i should pay more attention to those post more often!!

When is the last time you checked/changed your primary fluid? If you have contaminated fluid, the clutch may be a bit grabby.

That should eliminate that possibility then.

Did the bike shift fine before you tried to adjust the slack out of the cable??

If it did. I would think it is in the adjustment you did somehow.

Hummm..Did you re-adjust the screw behind the primary inspection cover too as per the manual??

My 2 cents worth.

yes.. it rode fine saturday and sunday. i put about 125 miles on it.

maybe i need to try different weight in the primary.. i put syn3 20/50 in both holes.

but.....it was fine for 125 miles...

im also going to re-adjust the cable to see if maybe the nut got loose somehow!

"I adjusted the cable last week because i had a tad bit of free play"

Ummmm, you want a tad bit of freeplay.

And Syn 3 is just fine, too. Proper clutch adjustment involves adjusting the ball/ramp under the keyhole cover with the cable slackened completely. Turn 'till seated, and out 1/4 turn, please.

Have you lubed your cable?

Having a little jerk at the end sounds normal to me - can't think of a vehicle I've owned that didn't do that.

when i said tad bit of play, im talking more then an 1/8 gap on the lever.

cable was lubed last summer, i guess it needs it again.
