Okay, so here is the story: I sold my beloved and heavily modded (blacked out all metal) red 2004 XB12R Firebolt to a guy in Mission Kansas last week. The weather was crap last weekend, so he came to pick the bike up Monday around lunch. His check had already cleared, and the payoff check was in the mail to HD credit so I wished him well and he rode off. Fast forward to this morning when I read a post on the local sportbike post board about a stolen XB12R. Apparently the bike was stolen at 5:30 am on Wednesday morning from the guy's apartment complex. He had already laid her down, so there is some rash on the black jet-hot coated header and the tail section. If you happen to see a bunch of black and red parts floating around on ebay from the same seller please send me a pm. Thanks! I feel bad for the guy because I think he only had liability on the bike.

damn that always sucks. my friends ands i sold a customized and nitroused vrod(shortly after they came out) to a guy in hawaii. we shipped it over there, he he had it for about 2 or 3 hours and hadnt even gotten to ride it before it was stolen out of the underground secured parking garage at his place. all they saw on the video was a panel van come in, and leave with its trailer hitch dragging on the ground. aparently it had his vrod, an ultra and some other harley shoved in the back. it was a huge fight with the insurance to even convince them that he had gotten it in his possesion. |

His insurance company called me today to get the details of the sale. I'm sure it seems like a pretty fishy deal since he didn't even have the bike for 48 hours before it was stolen. |

Wow. That sucks...... He already laid it down THEN it got stolen. That guy has some bad luck. Exactly why I spend the extra $$$ and have comp on my bike. |

Man, now thats a bum deal. I hate apartments. I had a honda spree that hardly ran when I was going to school in Portland, OR. and it got jacked by some kids. It turned up impounded and they wanted me to pay like 1300 bucks to get it out, and I only traded a 150 dollar snowboard for it, I said keep the damn thing assholes. The principal behind getting ripped off is so gut wrenching, its like being prison raped...not that I would know, I was just real sad..thats all.Promise. |

Now that it has been stolen I wish I had taken off some of the expensive stuff and sold it to a Badwebber. I'm sure neither the kid or the thieves would have ever known the difference if I had sold the right side scoop, ermax undertail and stuff like that. (Message edited by Olinxb12r on April 19, 2008) |

I hate apartments as well. I live in some apartments that don't have covered parking lots and there is not even anything to chain my bike up to. Fortunately I live on the first floor so it sleeps next to my bed at night.

Am I the only one that thinks this is very fishy. I want to say first that having anything stolen sucks. But... You mentioned you thought he only had liability on it. But the insurance company contacted you about it? I would figure that if he filed a claim, they would tell him to get lost. Not contact you. Maybe the poor guy did more damage than he originally lead on. Maybe the bike is now sitting at the bottom of a lake. He was just looking for a quick payoff verses an extended repair session. Just a theory. |

I asked the insurance agent about that cm. He said the kid only has liability, but that they investigate in certain situations regardless of the coverage. Since the kid only had the bike for 2 days it throws up a bunch of red flags for the insurance company. I'm sure they probably think I stole it back, but they can come search my condo and the warehouses at work that I kept the bike at any time. |

apartments with out garages suck. my complex has garages available, 35 bucks a month for 1/2 a bay (1 car), or do what i do and get the whole thing to myself for 70. after getting the bike last year and my magnum getting $7500 worth of hail damage right after I got it, a garage was mandatory when me and my GF were looking for a place. |
