Most do, not all. It's the numbers on the ECM that tell the story. Unfortunately I don't know the numbers. |

Get a good dealer to look it up on the computer. That's what I had to do, I thought I got ripped off, but it was indeed a Race ECM. |

The race ECM originally on my bike only had the bar code - looked it up - it was race. |

According to this it looks to be a race ECM for an XB9. http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/14 1224.html?1127177464 |

While we're on the subject, does anyone in the know have any word on whether or not they are going to release a race ecm for the 08's? Thinking about getting a new 12R, but haven't heard anything 'bout the new ecm. Otherwise, I'll just chase down a '07 leftover. Rich |

Not a good idea, since the 2008 ECMs have an additional sensor to keep track of. |

So, Darthane, why is it not a good idea? So, it was a good idea for Buell to make race ECM's for the 2003-07 models because they have one less sensor? I'm lost. Did you make a joke and I missed it? Do you not believe they will make an upgraded ECM for the 2008? Rich |

Do you not believe they will make an upgraded ECM for the 2008? The "race" ECM is not upgraged, it's a piece of crap mapped to comply with the other piece of crap: the "race" can. From the data I saw the "race" ECM delivers in large areas less fuell than stock. The maximum fuel cut is at WOT between 2900 and 4000 rpm and up to 18%! Less Fuel means less power. Given a constant AFR, less fuel means less air (aka dropping VE). So why should anyone want to use that? A sometimes richer WOT mixture is a side effect due to a rising AFV. Running a "race" ECM with an otherwise stock configuration (stock airbox/filter, stock can) will result in an AFV far above 110, because of the stock configuration's better VE in calibration region. So Gunter, just asking not being a wiseguy what would be the best configuration to run with a race ECM? |

The P&A kit. The ECM is mapped for this. If you like to lose power where you usually need it mostly, at mid rpm.

The P&A kit?? Don't mean to sound ignorant but I don't know what that is. Would it work for my XB9? |

I don't remember saying anything about running the other stuff stock. I know what the race ecm did for me. It got rid of that annoying torque dip. Any one with an '08 able to tell me that it's gone with the DDFI3? Rich |
