I put in 2 1/2 qt. like the manual says with a filter change. Started the bike to make sure there wasn't any leaks around the filter, shut the bike off and checked the oil level. It was below the add mark? I haven't added any because I thought I'd better ride it around the block before doing that. Does everyone have the same thing happen when they change their oil? |

Did you check it with the bike on the kickstand? The oil needs to be hot to get an accurate measurement. Take it for a 5 minute ride then check it again. |

Yes...the bike was on the side stand. |

I would get it hot enough for the fan to run, then check it. If still below the add mark, I would put a little oil in to, at least, bring it to the add mark. |

The capacity of the bike is 2.5 quarts. Several things can change the reading on your dipstick. Ultimately, I would run it until it's warm. Check the level. Where ever that is on the stick, that is your "full" line. Adding more is simply over filling it and putting it in the air box. |

I would agree, but you should be sure that you added that half quart accurately. I you did it by eye-balling you could be short. |

would get it hot enough for the fan to run, then check it. The engine needs to be good and hot when you check the oil. Mine reads at the bottom of the checkers when cold, then rises up to the safe zone when hot. |
