That's not grease but moisture in your primary. Check your other cover, it will probably be there as well.

its no place else in the motor or any other cover...like it was deliberately smeared on the inside of that cover...the motor is less than a month old..

Damnut is probably correct, could be something new for 08, but I doubt it. Moisture will get in through your clutch cable adjustment sleeve(springy looking rubber piece about half way up to the hadlebars). When it gets in the primary it causes a white residue to build up in there. AND it usually happens more a newer motor also. Very important to change your fluids at recommended intervals, if not more. One solution, and the best IMHO, is to take a couple of zipties and put one on each end of the adjustment sleeve.

I did a search and came up with this:

I've had the same thing happen to mine. The first time I saw it I was like WTF is this??? Now I just change my primary oil when I change my motor oil. I haven't had that happen since.

i checked the inside of the motor and not a drop any place but in the cover...the motor is only a month old and usually you only see residue on motors that dont warm up properly and run cold a lot... i ride everyday on country roads and usually not less that 50 miles..oh well...
