Will a 12 drummer fit a 9? Possible problems? |

physically yes, but internally they are different. if you were to scroll down, you'd see this thread where it was discussed a few days ago. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/350705.html?1207768888 |

Thats actually the opposite way I need to know if a 12 will work on a 9 not the other way around. Will it need an ecm to run it? |

It ought to be fine. It'll fuel better with the Race ECM, but you'll not damage the engine without it. |

if they are different internally from a 9 to a 12, why wouldn't they be different internally from a 12 to a 9? not sure what you're not understanding. |

I understand they are different. Why else would they have a 12 and a 9 option. I was wondering what possible problems I might face. Mainly will it cause it to run too lean? Am I going to damage the engine? I did a search and found nothing. |

it shouldn't hurt the motor, just won't perform as well as if you had the properly matched one. you could email kevin to verify, but i don't see how it could harm the motor. |

I'm running a Drummer designed for a 12 on my XB9. Actually, I asked Kevin to create a Drummer SS with the chamber volume tuned for 1250cc, since that's my eventual engine displacement, whenever the bore & stroke hotrod rebuild happens. So what you probably want to know is: how does it run? Well, there's no doubt the combination of XB9 motor and 12Drummer doesn't run as well as the proper match of can and lump. But after a 1000+ miles with the combo - and lots of downshifting pops & backfires - the bike's running great with no apparent problems, aside from disgruntled neighbors due to dB excesses (92dB at idle, 104dB revved). FYI - I'm using OE intake system and ECU map. Nonetheless, run the mismatch at your own risk. |
