New to the group so, HI! I've enjoyed reading everyones posts. I've thrown this question around my area to a bunch of my friends and they're pretty much split. I'm riding a 9s (love it of course). I am thinking about selling it and getting the 12s and have found a buyer for the 9 (I won't take much of a loss at all). I want the performance increase of the 12. So, the question is for about $3,500, do I go with upgrades to my 9 (through nallin) we're talking bore, signature series and heads or sell the 9 and for $2,500 more get the 12s? I think the numbers (power) are coming out pretty close btwn the modified 9 and the stock 12. I see some advantages to both and the two bikes would come by their power a little differently (lengthening the stroke vs. boring). To get where I want to be (power again) the 12 is actually a little cheaper BUT I'm getting "better" components from nallin and keeping my 7500 rpm with the 9(modified to a 12). Please, I'm interested in everyones thoughts, I can't think of everything! |

Given your parameters go with the XB12.

....and then there's the differences in throttle body and gearing to consider - both add a lot of money to the conversion. Buy the 12 and go for a big bore, that way you end up with a 'square' bore/stroke. |

power levels and cost are quite a bit different than what you are stating above.....you can't do a twelve (bore) conversion for that cost(trust me on this one! just got done doing it!), and you won't get 107RWHP from the stock twelve(maybe, but unlikely you'll get 15hp from exhaust or intake type mods on the 12 motor without spending $$$$) there's a huge difference in what you are talking about power-wise and dollar-wise.... do you like the idea of a two year warranty?

I never actually mentioned what the power levels would be exactly... just close. As far as money goes I am accurate with my pricing of boring out to 1200. I would refer you to the nallin site. $999 for the kit, $275 boring, $1100 for stage 3 heads and about $1300 for the signature series exhaust system. Just around $3700 actually which is close to what I was guessing above (in a family of mechanics, I have labor taken care of). I don't know what you paid but those are the prices I came up with. As far as warranty goes I cold really care less as I break the bike apart myself enough to void it within 6 months anyway. I have this bad habit of taking everything I own apart to see how it works and try and make it better (usually I don't make it better but that's part of the fun in my world). |

I'd say build the 12. You'll only be paying to insure a 984! ChainSaw |
