Alright the tides have changed... looks like the 9 I wanted is sold. Now I'm stuck on an 04' XB12S, and I think I'm going for it. Any major issues or things to think about with this one? Something to look for when looking at used Buells that I should pay more attention to? |

I think there may have been some belt wear issues up until '05 or '06, but that's easily remedied by an updated belt. Someone mentioned in another post that, if it's still sporting the original Dunlops, you should swap them out for another brand ASAP. The Dunlops have a rep for crappy handling and low mileage. ~SM |

I have an XB9SX, 15,0000 miles on it and me on the bike. Race kit & a couple mods. I've ridden with plenty of other buellers and skill was always the difference between the 12 & 9. The bikes are pretty even, but the 12 will walk away from you in the straights. The 9's are fast; I think 130 easy is possible with bolt ons. The 9 is smooth, no were near as hot and revy. If you’re coming from dirt bikes the sx is right for you. Just look at the handle bars. I've taken my 9 from Philly to Key West going hrs at 90+. The 12’s are sick, but as everyone in here says, their both tools for different jobs. Oh and by the way. Correct fitting clothing is a must. I made the mistake of getting a jacket that was to big. Later when I got fitted for my race suit I realized my mistake. Now with the correct jacket & size I slice right through the air not feeling a thing. I strongly recommend to everyone getting a correctly fitting 2 piece suit. Very confidence inspiring & leather suits makes ridding in the winter not so bad. |

Alright awesome, thanks for the info Ekass13, I think I'll be happy with either model, just depends on what I can get my hands on. Swordsman, thanks for the info, looks like it won't make too much of a difference going down to a lower year then! That's good news to me! |
