Past that, i don't think I burn half a quart in 2000 miles. Just a reminder, check the oil when it's warmed up.   Cubby Posted on Saturday, August 16, 2003 - 01:49 pm:        My XB9R needed oil added a lot during the first 800 miles. Just remember that from the low add line to the full line is only 4 ONCES!!!! After my first service I've not had to add any oil, even after very hard riding.   Darthane Posted on Sunday, August 17, 2003 - 12:03 pm:        Mine burned through half a quart during breakin - but since then I've never burned more than a couple ounces each change. I put new oil in before the Northeast Adventure, and 3500 high-rpm hard ridden miles later it wasn't down enough for me to even notice a difference.
