Has anyone seen a red XB12R at a dealer yet? The S models are everywhere in all colors, I know of two black XB12Rs in NY, but I haven't seen any red XB12Rs anywhere. The dealership where I work won't have one until the end of September. Anyone know of any? Mike L. '99 M2 Cyclone (sold) '04 XB12R Firebolt (coming eventually) '94 Turbo Miata |

Our first one shipped on Tuesday. Hasn't made it to the dealership yet but I hope it gets there tomorrow. I need to get it set up so Ralph, the new proud owner can ride it to the 20th party. I bought another red one from another dealership yesterday, I get it as soon as it shows up. Yes, I have that one sold already too! Ride to the edge! Arg. I could put up with the wait if red ones hadn't shown up yet, but waiting 6 weeks for a bike that's in stock elsewhere is stupid. Hopefully the sales manager will cooperate and help me find one. I suppose they'd be really pissed if I bought the bike somewhere else. Mike L. Ray Price HD/Buell |

I just returned from a trip to Stone Mountain HD to gather parts for the S1 and hopefully get a test ride. They had 3 blasts and 1 XB9R on the floor. They had the 12S demo bike outside and were using it as a leaning tree. No one wanted to find a Buell salesman so I could hear it fire up. No Buell accessories, No shirts, No exhaust nuts. Pretty freakin typical Buell NON-dealer. When will I meet an EXCITED Buell dealership. And no I am not traveling to Iowa, California or NC for the honor of meeting DaveS and Buckin-Fubba (i luv that name). Well maybe I'll go to NC. frustrated in Goergia, Buckin-DaveT ps - sorry to have missed ya Glitch. edited by tripper on August 15, 2003 |

I'm not sure that I want to go down this road . . . To those of you at other dealers, what fees are you adding on to MSRP on new XB12s? Also, what discount, if any, do you offer your employees on new bikes? How difficult is it to locate and tranfer bikes from other dealers? Thanks in advance, Mike Luddy, Jr. Ray Price HD/Buell

Spike, I'll ride this road with you! Here in Waterloo we add $700.00 for frt and initial set up. The ever popular $60.00 "documentation" fee(fancy word for paperwork fee). If there is a loan on the bike $5.00 lien fee(goes to the courthouse) If the bike is to be titled in Iowa $15.00 title(goes to the courthouse) fee 5% sales tax if it's going to be titled in Iowa(this goes to the state). Lic fee(goes to the state) I think that's it, it's early. If you are from out of state you will just have to pay the 760.00 in frt, setup and doc fee. When you get the bike home your state will charge you the rest of the tax and stuff. As far as discounts to employees I don't have a "set" amount I guess but I would treat them right. What better advertisement than to have your employees ride what the dealership sells. Talk to your boss and work something out. Trading bikes with another dealer when it comes to Buell, I have found to be fairly easy, there are plenty of, as I call them "alleged" Buell dealers out there that are more than willing to sell you their inventory. It did take me several calls to find the extra 12R I need and it was more of a favor to me. The dealer I'm getting it from is trying with Buell. Now on to how to do a trade. Go on HDnet and go to the sales area, click on dealer locator, fill in what you are looking for and it will show dealers in your state that have that bike. You can also search all 50 states. Call the dealer on the phone and get it done. The dealer that wants the bike usually is the one to do the hauling, although not always, depends on how sorry of a Buell dealer they are and how desperate they are to move a dust collector off the floor. Normally you pay them the dealer invoice amount for the bike plus setup if they have already done that. It's pretty easy. Call me if you need any help! Be glad to assist you. Ride to the edge! Still waiting for my 12s to show up. Dave Waterloo Iowa Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |

Dave, Thanks for the help. I asked my sales manager about getting the bike sooner. He said we'll get ours when they build it and ship it. Apparently dealer transfers are not done here except when necessary. This dealership is a bit too proud. We are one of the "alleged" Buell dealers. Our pricing is similar, we add $750 for freight and setup, $60 doc fee, and $20 or so for the title. Tax here in NC is 3% but that's not up to us anyway. Harleys will also have $2k+ added to MSRP. CVO bikes go for $29,995. The deal we worked out for my price is MSRP plus tax. I felt that this was fair because I'm getting the first red one that comes off the truck. I knew that if I waited till winter I could get a better deal from another dealer, but getting the bike early was worth the price. I didn't realize our first red one wasn't going to show up until October. I checked HDnet, unfortunately I don't have access to the vehicle locator. I'll find out if any of the sales guys have access. Thanks again for your help, Mike L. Ray Price HD/Buell |

I saw a red XB12R at Doc's H-D/Buell in Wisconsin. Not as cool as the black XB12S. The S has been on the floor almost since the official release. The R arrived late last week. The Buell sales rep told me it was on the floor on Friday. Now all I need is for the Packers to go to the Super Bowl. Then I might have a big fat bonus check to buy that black beauty |

ps - sorry to have missed ya Glitch. Was Scott not there? Yes that place has a lack of Buell. It is (believe it or not) getting better. The reason there were so few Buells there is they sold all but the XB9SL and Blasts. If you saw the red XB12S, that was Pete's, he bought it last week. I hate that your trip up was wasted. |

Bykergeek, They should be available. I'm at home right now and today at work is going to be nuts, we have the traveling museum there all day. If you can't get me on the phone, talk to Josh in parts and he can probably find out the info you need. I don't know if the parts books have come in yet so he may have to call you back after he finds the part #s and prices. Make sure you tell him that you get the Badweb 10% discount! Ride to the edge! Just for reference- *one* painted side fairing on my brother-in-law's new 999 is over $1k. The front section of the fairing around the headlights is $780. You'll also be happy to note that the fuel tank on your XB is about $500 less than a painted fuel tank for a 999 or a M900 Monster. $730 is actually quite good in relation to other plastics. Mike L. I know, I know. Still. -=sigh=- I'd rather fork the money over and get all new plastic so that I still have the old blue set for when I go out to track days. Cheaper than repainting it time and time again! |

>>Our local dealerships won't even give BRAG discounts.<< Mine doesn't even sponsor a local BRAG. They have claimed we don't spend any money (not like HOG members) but they don't carry anything Buell to spend money upon except the bikes. No hats, no shirts, no accessories unless special ordered. After over two full months of waiting I finally took delivery of my Racing Red XB12R today (Oct. 2nd 2003). It arrived at the dealership yesterday (Oct. 1st) while I was at lunch and I was able to uncrate it myself that afternoon. After a careful setup and spending some quality time with the finance manager I was able to ride the bike home after work today. The red bodywork combined with the gold wheels really makes a stunning combination that must be seen in person. If anyone in the area wants to take a look at it feel free to stop by Ray Price HD/Buell. It'll be parked outside while I'm stuck inside working and dreaming about my new toy. Kudos to Erik Buell and his team. They really have built an amazing motorcycle.
