I'm taking a some what long trip this summer. The longest part is aprox 8 hrs on the lightning. My biggest complaint is the wind. So my question is has anyone used the higher windscreen that american motorsports offers or would you recommend a windshield? Either one would be swapped back to the original after the trip and the cost between the two isn't much. So which ever one works best..... | ||

There is something else to consider. I just added the American Sportbike/Crossroads bars. I went with the 0 degree and I have found that they really helped get me out of the wind. They changed my body position so that the wind does not try to use me as a sail as much. The bars are expensive as far as bars go but they do help and the bike responds even better to inputs. It uses a product called "dual Lock" it is sort of a industrial velcro. It is a limited use product. You have to use a screw driver to pry apart the "teeth," you end up braking a few teeth each time, so after about 5x removal you need to replace them. They are stocked at any radio shack for a few $. They do hold, very well. I use 4 small quarter sizes strips. It has held the shield stable to WOT. When I first got it, I didn't secure it well enough (too many removals) and it came loose at speed. I was able to catch it, and stuff it into my aerostich. At the time it wasn't even a pucker moment. It happened, I grabbed it, done... It wasn't until I got home I really grasped what happened. here's what I am ordering. It's a bit larger than the others so on the super slab it should help more. CM, you don't need a screwdriver. A quick yank will release it without damaging any of the teeth. Remember how your Mom used to pull a bandaid off a healed abrasion? Same thing. I do it all the time to properly clean the flyscreen AND the Laminar speed shield. | ||

I am using American Sport Bike's on my CityX Great look and fit and it works. Just my 2 cents. and its only 4 screws to put the stock one back on. | ||

Birdy, I've got the same CeeBailys on my 12s and it works great. Might change back to the stock windscreen this summer-just to get more cool air on the torso. | ||

A quick yank will release it without damaging any of the teeth I use a patch a little larger than the included disks. The one time I yanked on the screen it caused a separation of the adhesive. It was a pain to clean up. When I used the original adhesive it worked, but a few times the adhesive would give. It is just easier now to occasionally lay down fresh dual lock. | ||

i'm using the original dual/lock (4 round discs)on my Lam. lip...... absolutely no problems . but , when i do remove the shield i take a small flat blade screw driver insert , twist& pry between the dual loc discs to separate & have had no adhesive problems. |
