...Once the logo starts being sold...they are going to want their money for it. It's my understanding that companies are legally obligated to actively pursue misuse of their logo, or they can lose the right to it's exclusive use via "Public Domain" laws. A few years back, Disney had to sue to keep the rights to it's own logo. IIRC copyright laws at the time gave X amount of years before you'd lose your rights to it. Disney successfully argued that their logo had been in constant use since it's inception. I'd like to see some BawWeb stuff, but bottom line is it's Blake's decision. | ||

There seems to be a grey area of understanding. Myself included. I haven't quite grasped the reason yet. Nevertheless It's pretty obvious patches are not supported by Blake. Therefore, next Bike Week and Biketoberfest I will just shout out "BADWEB!" anytime I see a Buell in sight. Will people think I'm nuts? Im sure of it. I have gotten 1 to many funny stares when I ask `em if they're a fellow `webber. I'm trying to show off the brotherhood, not be a tit mouse about it. Just 2ยข. Soap box is put away now. | ||

Why isn't Buell a sponsor of the board? If that was the case, then this would be a mute issue. Does HD and Buell realize how much pubicity they're getting for free? I'd think they could give clearance for a damn t-shirt and sticker. | ||

Does it have to be a logo? Wouldn't the word "BadWeb" simply be enough? If there isn't a logo there isn't any infringements. I like the permanent marker on our foreheads idea but if you're going to do that you might as well go a step further and get it tattooed  (Message edited by metalstorm on March 11, 2008) | ||

Well I was thinking it would be cool to make a patch in bulk and sell them to exclusively other members for little or no profit. Sort of an "unofficial" patch. I kept playing with that design. The basis is cool but I didn't want it to be too much like the original. But I think it's great it's got the storm cloud, the lightning bolt, and now "the shocker" I put in BWB which, you know, could stand for anything.   Blake, um if someone got enough people to sign up to buy a patch, do you think that person could sell a lot of 50-100 patches in the classifieds? If there was enough interest I'd be willing to front the cash to get a batch made. Of course the only way it would make sense though would be to sell them here, to members. |
