Hey guys. I just purchased a used 03 XB9S and when I test drove it I was wearing a pair of sneakers. After I bought the bike I went to ride it with my Alpinestars boots and now I can barely fit my foot in-between the shifter to shift up. I am a size 12. The dealer is mailing me the service manual...but until then can some tell me if the shifter is adjustable. If not is there something aftermarket I can get so I can fit my big feet with boots under the shifter. Thanks |

The shifter is adjustable. Just use the turnbuckle to adjust it up or down. I had the same problem. You might want to consider going to a GP style shift pattern. Schmitty |

2003 XB has a different shifter. That is one of the upgrades they did to 2004 and didnt tell anyone. Its the nub with rubber on it. Its to short and hard to shift, even harder if you are not wear stiff boots. The 2004 and up shifter has a longer metal piece in the rubber nub. So buy a new shifter and that will help. I have size 12 boots and it shifts fine for me.. |

Those gentlemen with a properly sized foot, that is to say, over size 11, may benefit from a custom made toe peg. I fabricated one from a stainless bolt 1/4"-20 bolt and some 1/2" black rubber fuel line.
The fastidious Buelligan might want to remove the "fuel line" lettering from the rubber, and polish the end of the bolt to prevent scratching his loafers.
