Rode the XB9R at sturgis. Interesting place, but that's another story. The suspension was really posh compared to my M2. The Vrod next to me just pulled away from me like I was standing still. Neat bike, but maybe the 12 will have more power. |

Rode my Firebolt to Sturgis last year (Took the Harley this year). I sure got a lot of "What the heck is that thing?" from onlookers. I did see a few tube frame Buells up there this year. If you wanted to embarass a VROD, Shoulda invited him on a ride on Hwy 85 between Sturgis and Newcastle. Let's see that thing keep up in the corners! |

Stayed in newcastle. This was an experience. I don't think I want to go to Sturgis again. So many wannabe's. |

hard to believe a Vrod pulled away from you like you were standing still. I have pulled on my friends rod, no problem. |

Am I understanding this right? That a V-Rod has a better 0-60, 0-100 mph then the XB9R. |

At a HD open house we got to do some roll-ons with their M2 vs. V-Rod. The V-Rod walks away at any RPM. It's got a good motor, very Un-harley'sh. (the demo guy did'nt want to hear that) |

I couldn't find any numbers tested under identical conditions, but I found many sources with 1/4 mile times for the V-Rod and XB9r. The V-Rod looks to be about 11.3 seconds, the XB9R about 11.8, so it's got an advantage, but not a huge one. I would expect the extra power of the XB12's to put them ahead of the V-Rod to claim the title of undisputed fastest US, production bike ever made, on any course (Unless Harley surprises us in a couple weeks) |

.0125 miles = 66 feet, or about 9-10 bike lengths. That's a long ways on a 1/4 mile drag strip. But then the XB's are not set up as a drag race bike. Now if you take those two bikes to someplace like the old Seattle Internation Raceway and include the roadrace track into the drag race you may see different results. And that would be interesting to see, four comparable decent riders, stock V-Rod, stock DynaGlide, stock XB9R, stock XB12R, line them all up at the start of a straightaway and send them off for a lap around the track. Who'd win, and by how much in time and distance. I wonder if they did this recently at the unveiling at RoadAmerica? Video like that could be a good sales tool for Buell inside dealership showrooms to have running on a continuous loop monitor in the corner. |

The way I look at it, you can grade production motorcycle, straight line 1/4 mile performance as follows: Under 10 seconds: A+ 10-11 seconds: A 11-12 seconds: B 12-13 seconds: C 13-14 seconds: D 14-15 seconds: F So the V-Rod and XB9R both earn "B"s. Good for the XB9R which isn't intended to be a straight line performer and great for the V-Rod whose brothers and sisters are in solid D and F territory. Here's to hoping the XB12's can manage an "A" or at least B+. |
