By the way, if anyone installs the Symtec heated pads under their grips, wrap the handle bar on the clutch side with electrical tape BEFORE installing pad. Mine were shorting out to the bar, popping the fuse instantly. Throttle side is fine since you have a plastic throttle sleeve. They are hot  Without gloves you could easily welt your palms!!! Nice clean install though...  Added relay, upper right corner.  and aux. power outlet  not much room in there...(not touching horn bracket even though it looks like it here)  measure and remeasure before cutting a permanent 7/8" hole!  ...and throttle lock (Vista Cruise)for cruisin' the slab... Thanks! It was a good excuse to buy a couple stepped drill bits  I had to drill through the plastic cover, removed the "blank" idiot light spots, drilled though circuit board, and back of instrument panel. Little nervous drilling through the side of my bike for the aux power. Eric | ||

You are brave. I like the aux location, thats actually where I put my heated grip switch. Also did that switch come with your kit? I have a big toggle and I think that one looks nicer | ||

Thanks for the positive comments! Also did that switch come with your kit? Yeah, it came with the kit. You could choose either the toggle or rocker (like mine). You could try the hardware or autoparts store for an on-off-on rocker switch to replace your toggle. Love the grips! Took the bike out tonight for coffee and get a little work done, 40 degrees, hands nice and toasty  | ||

Updates... 1200 degree high temp paint on pipes. Not cured yet  Pipes and skateboard wheel--sliders (painted ultra-flat black)   After a ride to cure paint. Now it's a nice flat black.  Check out http://picasaweb.google.com/eengler2 for more pics of my bikes--past and present. Eric | ||

Nice Job Eric - I actually was thinking of the skateboard wheel sliders too - did you just get a long threaded bolt? Did you paint the header on the bike? | ||

Jaydub Yes, I got a 3ft length of all-thread rod. I think 5/16". I slid some rubber hose the length of axle over the thread to prevent scratching the inside of axle. For wheels, I bought a really cheap short skateboard from wal-mart for $8.00. I wrapped the thread in teflon tape where the wheels sit to make it tight so the bearings would work. Now the wheels rotate because of the bearings not on the thread. Did you paint the header on the bike? Yes I used aluminum foil to wrap under header, around engine. Masked off the frame (you can still see a little blue painter's tape in the pics, above) and wrapped the frontend in plastic. Ended up looking a lot better than I was expecting! Fun to watch the paint cure as the header warmed up. From top down slowly turning from gloss to flat black Eric | ||

Got it from Pep Boys... 1500 degree. It's what you use to paint exhaust wrap. Thought I would try it straight on the pipe. We'll see how long it holds up. Made it a day and wind tested up to 120 mph Eric | ||

Jedi, I am very surprised at how GREAT it looks, the problem will be durability. Bob, can't take credit for the slider idea. Several have done it here already. It is very easy to do and some have crashed tested them already |
