hi guys. Im new to the board and a new rider. I am planning on getting a firebolt next week and I dont know much about bikes. would the xb12 be a big difference for me to ride than the xb9? Im also curious as to what carbon fiber does for your bike? is it lighter or is it just for cosmetic purposes? charles |

Mookie.... MSF....MSF....MSF.....(Motorcyle Safety Foundation) Rider Safety Course.... get a course... Personally I would buy a clunker to learn on... most everybody goes down in some kind of incident in thier first year of riding... that (IMHO) is a lot of risk you're taking (and power) to use as a learning tool.. Just MHO |

Mook, Welcome! You're gonna love riding the Blasts in the Riders Edge class. They are the perfect learner bike. I bought one for my daughter! Just remember, everyone in a cage is out to get you. You ARE invisible even if you are wearing a neon suit with flashing lights. On the other hand, the joy of riding far out weighs the risks. Pay attention in your class. You CAN minimize the risks but you must NEVER let your guard down. Welcome to the fraternity of fanatic Buell owners.... Brad |

LOL...that's the name of a law firm in a novel series by L. Ron Hubbard. Fatten, Farten, Burnstein and Ooze. I'll go crawl back in my hole now.

Two years ago, I bought a Blast! had not been on a bike for almost ten years. Wanted an X1, not buying the big bike was one of the smartest things I did. They are probably one of the easiest bikes to ride. (Blasts) I got it on e-bay for great price. Lots of them there, always. Dealers sell them after the course, you could probably get the one you used in class for a deal. I rode mine for a year, then traded it for one of the last M2's left. Got 90% of purchase price on trade. Had I dropped a brand new cyclone I would have been heart broken, if I dropped the Blast, it would pop right up and I'd be on my way. They are great to take the road test for licensing. Don't get in over your head with a $13000 XB12S right away. Ride something else for a while then get the super bike. |

Welcome to Badweb! Enjoy the class and the new bike. Carbon fiber does lighten the bike but I think most riders put it on more for the looks. I happen to know a guy that sells lots of carbon fiber for the XBs! Ride to the edge! Dave HD/Buell Cycle Center 1-800-342-7539 ext 211 |

welcome aboard mookie....enjoy....I won't go into the diffs between the 9 and 12. After your done with the class and feel confident. Ride them both. They are kinda like picking out your mate. what you may like may not be what I think is right for you. Brian Tilley's 704-872-3883 b.gardner@tilleyhd.com |
