On the cover of the 2008 edition of Rider Magazine, they refer to the XB12XT as "Buell's New Ulysses Factory Sport Tourer" OH NO!!! A "Sport Tourer??" Now NO ONE is going to buy one!! Why would they do that? Don't they know no one buys sport tourers??? |

They're mistaken. It's the XB12Xcg. |

This is a Sport Tourer: (Thank you Two_Buells) With bars, Zero Gravity double bubble and, "s" pegs it's time 2 ROLL! (IMHO). This what my 25r will look like. Neil S. (Message edited by ccryder on February 28, 2008) |

I think, with it's superbike performance, the 1125R deserves some slick bags if it's going to be pulling touring duty. Something similar to the S2/S2 bags. These would look great in a slim profile.
Or if you wanna keep passenger pegs..

Come on Donnie tell us what you really think ;+}! At least these bags are smaller and more contoured than the Uly set up. Time2Work Neil S. |

"somebody better tell BMW that sport-tourer s don't sell , cause they sure do sell a lot of 'em !!!" Guess what Im looking buy? BMW. I might go for the XB12XT, but 13K+ is not in my budget this year. I'm looking @ a used BMW K75RT tonight. |

Barker: I wouldn't. I'm a BIG fan of BMW, but the K75RT was a big mistake designed more by marketing than engineering. The K75 was never designed to carry that big, heavy fibreglass fairing. It was balanced on the K100RT, but the K75RT felt hopelessly top heavy and clumsy. I'd look for a good, used airhead if I were you. A nice R100RT is a much better motorcycle than the K75RT. |

Perhaps that should be rephrased. Sport-tourers do not sell in sufficient number, absent a large German auto manufacturer to underwrite the huge tooling costs, in sufficient numbers for a company that lacks the luxury of having amongst it's range a "loss leader" that, regardless of how nice and desirable a motorcycle it is, can't do it's part to contribute to the success of a company bound, in word and deed, to prove itself. That help? I own a BMW by the way. |

Hmmm, now there's a tough choice! 1125rT XB12xT I love the bags on the 1125r! (As long as that top bag is quick release) And to the "sport touring bikes don't sell" people, When I can afford a new bike... It'll most definitely be a sport touring bike. |

The 1125R looks nice, but I want my next bike to be more comfortable 2-up with baggage. I had pretty much decided on a FJR1300 when the XB12XT showed up...and I'm really digging it. |

"What my father doesnt understand is that you cant just slap bags on a bike and hope it will tour, you gotta get the endorsement of some know it all motorcycle editor that thinks it is the bee's knees and then you are off to the bank " read it picturing Jr from OCC in your head if it makes you feel better. |

I wish the 12XT was around when I was shopping. I'd probably have opted for that over my Ss. ~SM |

BMW "Airheads" are the ultimate touring bikes. Their tool kits can do almost any roadside repair. No computers, no fuel injection, no chain to lube or adjust, no chrome to polish or rust, no gps, no xm, no BS. Just a real good motorcycle, made for reliable transportation, year after year, not the high tech "crap" that BMW produces now that you can't even change the oil on without an eighty dollar filter wrench, or a $20,000 computer to change the brake fluid. D'oh. The new BMW motorcycles don't even come with a tool kit any more because you already have it. What? You're thinking, that's right, your phone, that's the only tool YOU can use to get it fixed. In 24 years, my airhead has only quit running once when it had fuel in the tank. "Airheads" Simple by choice. |

It's funny how people want to make fun of the "sport touring rider" till they need to put something in one of those bags!!! |

Got that right! Sometimes I feel like I'm the rolling locker room when I have my LT and my riding buddies are looking for someplace to stash their gear when we stop somewhere... |

back in my younger days, that one used to be the rolling bar when we went to the beach. One bag would hold a case of beer on ice, and the other bag would carry my clothes for the weekend.....oh, how I miss those days.................. |

If you wanted to tour on the 1125R, couldn't you just stuff all your shit into the front pods? |

I think what you meant to say is that since Buell is such a small company they can't subsidize niche motorcycles. However, Buell has so many competent incarnations of motorcycle that it wouldn't be too difficult to emulate the FJR's/FZ1, Concours', BMW K/R/G1200's, Honda ST's, Suzuki Bandits/SV's/V-Stroms, Guzzi Norge's, Ducati STs, Triumph ST. Oh I forgot, no one makes sport touring bikes anymore because they don't sell. |
