If it's tire life you're looking for, you don't need bigger, you need a sport touring tire. Diablo, Scorpion Sync, M6, are a few that have long life, there are others.

I am going to try the Bridgestone battlax BT021r this year. So far they look nice on the bike but the weather is preventing a test.

Sci...I've seen pics of a 200 with no chain conversion, just the guards taken off. 190 will fit with no guard removal.

I run Diablos and love them. I put about 2 grand on a new pair last summer and can easily see another 2 no problem.

If you want to fit a 200 or wider rear tyre then you will have to get the rim widened.
To be honest, anything wider than the stock tyre will lose performance and handling will suffer. I know some racers that actually go downa size to get better turn in speed without losing grip.

a couple more, as for performance I'm only riding the bike on the street so it doesn't matter much.

THANK YOU for being someone else to metion this besides me! If you put a bigger tire on, you have to squeeze that tire together more than designed, causing a sharper curve and a smaller contact patch. Plus you get the slower turn-in.

But some of us mod our bikes for looks as well as performance. For us the 190s and 200s is what were looking for. I dont care what my turn in is. In fact I raised my front end to lessen my angle of attack because it does turn in so fast. Maybe I shouldda bought a fat tired Harley Davidson!!!

I run a 170 on my stunt bike for cicle wheelies , the buell has a 200 on the rear for looks I don't care how it turns, for street riding it turns much better than a chooper w/ a 240, so I'm happy. you get used to it. I've ran 200s on alot of sport bike that you aren't supposed to put bigger than a 190 on with NO problems.

As long as it's for looks, and it clears enough to roll, then it's all good.
I know a 190 will work well, even on the track.
I prefer the stock sizes because of the type of riding I do.

The Aluminum foil on the Clutch Cover is a pretty well known way of converting the standard Buell Clutch into a slipper clutch.

It works on more or less the same principle as an AFDB:
sss

Glitch can probably explain it better than I can. It's kind of technical.

I'm facing the issue of needing a new rear tire and the front is in great shape. Does it affect anything to go with a bigger rear and differnt brand?

190 didn't affect the turn in on the track for ME! I consider myself to be a pretty aggressive rider though. I did however go with a softer front than the rear, same brand, just a softer rubber. The tires also showed that the "chicken strips" were nearly identical also. The front had about 3/16 inch strip, whereas the rear was on the edge.

"If you want to fit a 200 or wider rear tyre then you will have to get the rim widened."

I believe the 200 will fit on a stock rim, but that's as far as it goes. Rieguy? You have a stock rim for your 200 or no?

What Trojan is trying to say is, that if you want the tire to fit properly, you would need to widen the rim. A 200 series tire is made to fit on a wider rim, when you force it on one of our rims it distorts the shape of the profile, because it's being squeezed together. Just because you can get it on the rim, doesn't mean it fits.
