Sure has been a long time since I've posted. Hey guys! I haven't seen much talk about the STT lately. Are they selling well? Are they so trouble free that no one is talking about them? Any owners want to share your impressions? It's on my list of possibles now that I am considering getting back on a Buell. |

Well, I have had mine since June and have 7000 problem-free miles on it so far. I am in love with the bike. It has blown me away with its performance on everything from gravel roads to choppy pavement to the asphalt of Laguna Seca. The bike hugs corners and absorbs anything that that road has thrown at it. I find the extra inch of suspension over the standard lightning models has given me confidence on rough roads without causing any awkward dive while cornering hard on pavement. Just some thoughts |

That's the kind of thoughts I'm looking for. I'm on limited budget again so I'm also looking at the KLR650. My fear with that one is that it may be a little puny on the hwy for my use. Thanks |

the 3 that we have on the road are doing well, the owners seem to love them, I have one customer that gets off road as often as I do. Damn durable reliable bike. |

I've been spending time at KLR650.net forums. Nice bunch of guys. Kind of reminds me of this place. I came this close to buying the KLR but hesitated. Your feedback is most helpful. Thanks. |

Dave I haven't had mine long but for what it's worth I love it. It pulls like a tractor, stops strait and true, will turn on a dime...I mean think turn and it does it BUT it's not twitchy. It eats dirt roads for lunch and will roll down the interstate all day at 70+. The down sides are lack of any real wind protection on the super slab. No room to store a thing until you buy saddle bags. And there are only 24 hours a day to ride it in. I'd looked at the DL-650 V-Strom and the KLR but they lost out to the raw power and handling of the Buell. The KLR was a bit underpowered feeling on the interstate to me and there is to much plastic on the V-Strom to buy if...when I drop it for my taste. |

Thanks, Birdy. I looked at the WeeStrom too. Like you said, too much plastic. So far the only problem I have with the STT is that I will have to wait a little longer to afford it. The KLR is cheap...er, uh, I mean less expensive. |

Superdave, it's the best real world bike BUell has EVER built. Birdy, that is why I built the Ulybolt. And it's why Buell copied it with their XB12XT |

Had it been around when I bought the Uly, I'd be spending much less time in Big Bad and Dirty. What I wanted was XB12SX. The Uly was the closest approximation until then. I love my Uly, but I don't need the extra ground clearance and don't use the luggage that much. |

Hello, I just joined this site. I like to say the STT is the one. Well for me anyway, I have a 2007 and I do not regret buying it. it's good off road (not a dirt bike) but on hard pack and fire roads it's very good. I use mine to commute to work not for off road use. I have a place in the country so some gravel road travel is necessary. Excellent power and great handling you can't go wrong. XB12STT!!!! |

I bought my STT last May, and I have enjoyed almost 6000 miles of fun even though early snow shortened my riding season. The STT handles bumpy, twisty pavement much better than any sportbike I have ridden over the last 12 years. The suspension allows me to roll through stuff that I used to slow down to manage my traction. I had been very concerned that the engine would not be as much fun as my prior, more powerful bikes, but the powerband is soooo road-friendly, that I only miss the big horsepower if I want to blast on the straights. Even then, I can still get up to speeds that the local LEO's would not appreciate. This is a fun bike. |

I finally saw one on the freeway a few days ago. I don't see many in stealerships though. |

Dave - there is a New 06 or 07 left very cheap.(1 of only 3 Buells at a big HD dealer) I think the sticker was under $7700. Call Mike at Seminole Buell and tell him the bike is at Seminole Harley. He'll know about it and he can get it for you. Great guy. Buell rider. seminolebuellshop.com |

There's also a leftover STT 06 or 07 at Stone Mountain HD in Lilburn, GA, if that's a bit more in your location... Call and ask for Brad... |

I'm just wondering out loud here, but didn't they introduce the STT in '07? Where are the left over '06 bikes coming from? I have my eye on an '07 the dealer says he can give me a good deal on. I told him I might not be ready to buy until NEXT spring. He said he would give me a REAL good deal then. Seems the dealers can sell the white ones, but can't give away the orange ones. Odd, since you can buy different color bodywork all day long for fairly low cost. If it is still there when I am ready to deal it will be mine. I don't really have any other bike in mind, since I already have a lazyboy on wheels (Electra Glide). |

Lazylion, The STT was a mid year introduction for 07. Danbury HD has a 07 that they switched to black plastics + the passenger kit. It looks cool, but i think the white looks better. |

Superdave, The KLR 650 is an amazing bike. There are a ton of after-market options and the support community is enormous. My dad has one and it has been a great bike. The main thing that stopped me from going the dual-sport route is the relative lack of power. I love the feeling of rolling on the throttle and the bike just taking off! The other reason is I love carving corners, and while I have heard of KLRers dragging peg on pavement, I am not that skilled. The Buell performs so perfectly that it gives me confidence to flow through tight sections of road. My two cents anyway. |

Get the KLX250S for dual sport (06 or 07 are best) and the TT for everything else. Works for me..... |

Thanks for all the hints, tips, offers, and comments! Bradyr77 - KLR is a great bike. It would suit me for the everyday, around town stuff. With finances the way the are I may go that way for now. We'll see. I haven't even been to the local Buell dealer to see if they have an STT. From what I've heard it's a pretty good stealership, but until I can afford it going there would just make me miserabler. That's a word. The ideal solution would be to buy both STT and KLR. Yeah, that's going to happen. Oh well, patience is a virtue, but I feel like that vulture who said "Patience my ass, I'm gonna kill something". You are right, and don't rule it out. I got a KLR-250 runner on ebay for under $700. Tires for it cost $100 (for both, to your door). |
