belt - if its the original part number - if newer check / inspect primary chain adjustment clutch adjustment steering head bearings check brakes check / replace lube cables fork oil plugs possibly battery ride another 10k  | ||

The only thing that's a problem for the home mechanic is changing the fork oil. You need some way to compress the spring in order to disassemble the forks. Saintly figured out how to do it with ordinary tie downs. Didn't seem that simple to me. How he did it is in here somewhere. I think Saintly will do it for you at a reasonable rate. While you have the forks apart, you might want to think about upgrading to the competition springs especially if you are on the heavy side. Re-vavleing the shock is another go fast trick that helps handling, and requires the forks to be disassembled. If you are going to replace the brake pads, lots of guys like the Lyndall Golds. Al at American Sport Bike has them. If I am going to take something apart, I figure I might as well up grade it. If you're going for new plugs, always a good idea, I like the Denso Iridiums IUX24. NGK's are excellent too. Might as well change the brake fluid, only takes a few minutes, especially if you use speed bleeders. ( Al can get them) Of course the engine oil and primary oil gets changed and the oil filter. Take a beady look at your tires. If you got the wheels off to replace the belt or the pads, might as well treat your self to some new shoes. Nothing makes a bike handle better, and now you don't have to do any maintenance till the fall, (maybe:-). That's about it.  | ||
