What's the real differences between the 9SX and the 12S? I've ridden an 05 12Scg and an 08 12S, but never a 9SX yet... But I love the blue color scheme on the 9SX, and I figure it'll probably be easier on the Insurance Wallet as well... Thoughts about the differences? |

I believe, (correct me if I'm wrong), that the City X has a bit more suspension. Other than that, hand guards and maybe front fender, headlight guards, various bits and bobs. And Erik himself says he rides a City X. So therefore, it must be one of the most fun XB's around. |

I love my City, wouldn't trade it for a 12 straight up. I love the smoother revvy nature of the 9, and it is just a blast to ride. --Sean |

I was originally looking to buy a CityX, that is until I rode the XB12S. The torque comes on so strong. I was sold on that. I added the hand guards from the CityX and you can always change the airbox cover and flyscreen if you choose. For reference, I'm 31 and pay about $30 a month for insurance. YMMV |

different hammer for a different job Unique to the CityX not on the 12s Lower gear ratio for 1st, really important for stoplight launches and forest riding More aggressive tread for the real dicey road conditions that we meet OFF track. The hand guards, the head light grill, the taller skyline seat. And the deal closer? BLACK engine cases. All things being equal you will pay less to insure your Cityx over the 12s/stt/ss/r/scg because of the lower displacement and the over all lower cost of the bike. Things I wish the CityX had? Taller suspension, bigger tank, more displacement.... If they had the TT when I was in the market, I would have that in my garage. demo, demo, demo, you will find your favorite. Mine is orange and usually covered in MUD. go get your own ;) |

Cityxslicker, you may have sold me there Though, I may have found an 03 XB9S...similar enough to the CityX...and it should be the right price after haggling - 1300 miles, asking $5500 |

the great thing about buell bikes is that you can get all the cityx body work and make your own cityx. |

Just FYI, The CityX has the same suspension travel as the 12S in the front at 4.72-in, the rear has the CityX with a fingernail more travel, 5.0-in to 5.06-in. --Sean |

I got a XB9S and I love it. They're a great deal too. You should be able to get the price down on that one. It is definitely a great city bike, a true urban assault streetfighting machine. |

Check my profile picture. Swapping plastics is very easy and rewarding. I bought it yellow knowing it's not what I wanted. If you can save some cash, go for it. For reference, a local Yamaha dealership is selling an '04 Black 12R for $5700 with about 5k miles on it. |

i just finished the brc here in florida with my cityx. i could actually perform the figure 8 turn in the small box that the instructors use for the small bikes. i've only had the bike about 4 weeks. so it just seems easier to ride in tight spaces, and i could also take the corners faster during the course than any other bike. btw the course instructor uses honda rebels. really easy turning bikes, but my bike could easily out maneuver them. haven't ridden a 12 but i would like to, to feel the difference. |

Well the seller accepted my offer on the 03 I was looking at... Will post up some details once I actually get the bike though, I'm a bit superstitious ;) |
