Well I did it. I broke down and bought new wheels (hey, it was time for new tires anyway, right?) and plastics to make my bike the color combination I have always wanted. When I first bought my '06, I had Hero Blue and Kick Ash to choose from, but Kick Ash looked dead to me, no pop, so I went with blue. The next year when Cherry Bomb came out I decided that was the color for me. So here is my '06 with Kick Ash plastics and Translucent Red wheels and letters. I think it came out awesome, and looks really distinctive, what do you think? Sorry for the crappy photos, digital point and shoot doesn't handle Trans Red very well, so it looks orange and I only had a half hour to get some quick pics before I had to pick up my baby girl. I have a couple pics in the direct sun and a couple in the shade, it is amazing how Trans Red comes alive in the sun. The last piece is still on order, and that is the silver Cheese Grater, to replace my stock blue one, otherwise it is good to go - until I feel like modding something else... Enjoy! I'd love some feedback. Here is the evolution... --Sean (Message edited by thespive on February 06, 2008) |

I'm sorry, all I see when I look at your pictures are blue sky and green trees. Damn Californians. Seriously though, it looks pretty sweet. On a side note, how do you like the Syncs? I'm getting ready to order a pair. |

I am really disappointed at how muddy the beautiful red is on here, but this Photochop gives you an idea how it really looks. --Sean |

Thanks guys! To answer the questions: - The seat is firm, but better over long distances than stock. - The RSS is Rcrins' and is fiberglass. - LOVE the Syncs, this is my second set. - Looking good for Ortega, my buddy Grant will probably come on his X1. --Sean |

Always was a sucker for a good looking CityX, I just prefer mine in Valencia Orange. Nice job. |

Looks good. I nearly did the same thing last year. I inquired about getting the cherry bomb wheels. The dealer offered me a really sweet deal, as long as I would trade in my cityx stock black rims. They told me there is a demand for those for their racing team. I decided to keep the low key look of my bike, so I passed. It is good to see what it might have looked like. Question though how hard is it going be to keep those clean? |

I think they'll be okay to keep clean because they have a 2-stage powder coat and the second stage is a clear from what I understand. I am going to try and take some better pictures today or tomorrow that show the red better. The orange color in the photos looks like sunset orange, the bike is more stunning in person, I swear. --Sean |

If you still have, and are interesting in selling, your blue plastics and the black wheels, email me at WilliamCoolahan@yahoo ;) |

For everyone asking about the wheels and plastics, they are already spoken for, but if things fall through i will let you know. Thanks! So I took the bike out for a 10-mile ride down PCH today, perfect 65 degrees, sunny and the light just danced off the rimes. It was spectacular and I couldn't believe how much attention the new color scheme drew from everyone. It was a lot of fun. --Sean |

There was snow... ...on the mountains, 50-miles away! It was pretty and 75+ today. This is why I DON't live in Ohio! --Sean |

I visit the Midwest enough for work to appreciate home, trust me on that. But when I was riding today, I thought, "boy, sure wish those guys in Ohio could do this", then I opened the vent on my jacket! --Sean |

There was snow... ...on the mountains, 50-miles away! And you could have seen it first hand if you had gone with us for the rest of the day. We did almost 300 miles yesterday. edit: BTW, your bike looks friggin AWESOME in person. Good job on the new colors dude. Hope to see you out there every Sunday. Great looking XB...nice Sporty too. Curious, since I'm mucking with the wife's '02 XL (that she never rides, grrrr). Who's bars are on yours, and do you hit the tank with your switchgear (I can see yours is '04-later)? I have HD drag bars on mine and lose a little steering lock. I'm thinking about tapping a bolt into the nub on the front of the steering head, to hit the lower triple tree nubs sooner. I know I'll lose some tight turning ability..but that's why I own Buells, LOL. And I think you just spent $125 of my money. I was debating chopping the rear fender like a Nightster, or getting a bobtail. Your pic sells me on the bobtail. <sigh> I can hear her now - "why are you spending money on a bike nobody rides?". Um...so *I* can ride it!!! |

Pwnzor - I was debating it. I contacted Odie about it, and I am still on the fence, so for now at least it matches the bike. Ratbuell - Those are clip-ons I bought on eBay, and no, the controls never hit the tanks. I sold the bike last year. It was a sweet ride, 100hp NRHS Stage 3 1250 and lots of mods. --Sean |

Yeah, yeah, I know. I think I am going to leave it as-is for now. I have to see it out on the road and in the sun to see if it looks right. The verdict from the garage is positive, though. --Sean |

Chop your own tail. It is easy and if you send all your tail pieces out for powder, it is still way cheaper than anyone's chopped tail kit. Just IMO of course. |
