I swapped out my ECM today and had to move the battery. Underneath the I saw a triangular deutsche-looking plug that was capped. Just wondering if anyone knows what it is for. Thanks, --Sean |

It's the plug for reading your ECM. The service guys plug into it to read the error codes. Also you use it for flashing the ECM, using ECMspy, Direct Link and the like. |

Different plug, Glitch. I have an "S" and the diagnostic plug is high on the tail to the rear of the ECM. I know because I reset my TPS through it and reset codes, etc. This particular plug I am asking about is triangular, and is under the battery. --Sean |

No pics? Me and Glitch both have S's. I don't ever remember there being a triangular plug near the battery. Our's are also 03's as well. Smokescreen |

Yep we could use a pic. I've haad my tail completely of and swapped for an R tail, and don't recall anything that looks like that. |

Sean, are you up for a ride tomorrow? Rain or shine, I'm going. Last week was great, nobody up there at all. And, I could eyeball that plug for ya. |

Is this the plug? Mine look like it goes up to the exhaust valve servo.

Hey Matt, Just finished putting the bike back together (Race ECM, New tires, new wheels, new plastics, new filter) tonight and haven't had the chance for a shakedown run, plus I have a nasty head cold and my mind isn't right for riding. Next Sunday is looking good for me, though. And yes, that is the plug. I guess the reason it is capped on my 9 is because I don't have a servo. So, I am assuming 9s and 12s use the same wiring harness. Thanks, --Sean (Message edited by thespive on February 02, 2008) |

got your email and I do believe that's the power to the exhaust servo. See you next week then. Looks like it will be a wet ride again tomorrow. |

There is one for the exhaust servo, and also I've seen some that had wiring for (I think), the throttle limiting device for Japanese market bikes. I remember seeing a capped 3-pin plug on a Uly. I KNOW that isn't the data-link plug. Those are a rectangular 4-pin plug. |
