I have finished the break in miles and now need to put in a quality oil. From many recommendations it seems that people favor Bel-Ray or Mobil 1 V-Twin. Which oil I should use on a 2003 Buell Firebolt. I believe that Bel-Ray EXS Synthetic Superbike Motor Oil 10W-50 would be the best choice. } |

Mobil 1 V-Twin is what I use. I'm not about to start the "Oil Wars". That's just what I use.

I use Mobil 1 15W-50 synthetic purchased from Wal-Mart @ $3.60/quart in the five quart bottle. I use Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic in the trannie/primary. Keith |

You basically said it all right there. Most of the decision making behind stuff like oil winds up being a religious thing. Obviously some oils do certain things better than other oils but the real life consequences of these differences and the practical (in)ability to measure and document them in real life makes a lot of it moot. Go with what makes you comfy and call it a day. That way, if / when something goes bad, at least you can say to yourself that you used the oil you felt was best for the task. Shoot me if you will. -Saro |

I'm currently using Valvoline Synthetic 20w50 ($4.29 qt) with Mobil 1 75w50 ($6.99) in the primary |

Synthetic is. I just look for the SG JAPO MA ratings in 20/50. |
