I'm looking at purchasing an 08 XB12STT in the near future, best deal I can find on an 07 is $9700 OTD. Heck the 08's are only MSRP of $10,295. Seems to me I should be able to buy an 08 for MSRP plus Tax and tags (another $350), so the total price of the 08 would be $10,650 only $1000 more than an 07! Are the changes to the engine worth the $1000? and is paying MSRP reasonable on an 08? or should I be paying less? Thanks

Why pay MSRP for the '08?

Thats what I'm trying to find out, what is considered a fair deal, like $500 off MSRP?

I got my 07 Stt for $9200.00 out the door. A 08 would have been closer to $11,300. With all the Taxes, Titles fees and what not added on.

The best I can do is $9500 for the 07 and $10,600 for the 08 (both OTD) so is the $1100 extra for the 08 worth it?

Some folks would disagree, but I would rather have the 07 even if the price was the same. I like having control over my TPS setting. From the test ride I have done the 08 is sluggish compared to my 06 which is the same as an 07.In short buy the 07, save 1100.00, take 200.00 and buy the TPS software from american sportbike.com. Your still 900.00 ahead and happy.

Yep, from what I can tell the differences are just the motor stuff listed above. The chassis and rest is the same. So I saved the cash to get a helmet, coat, boots and other stuff. Want to add saddlebags next spring and a windshield to make a ST out of my STT.

I'd get the 08, no tps reset or timing check. That annoys me since I really have to get it reset every 10k because the bike runs like crap by then. It's not like adjusting valves (on a bike that requires it) where if you not beating on it you go a couple thousand more miles than the manual says. In theory the only maintenance you have to do on the 08s is change the oil, spark plugs, filters, and adjust the primary chain. They are the least maintenance intensive bikes out there.

Plus the engine upgrades makes it much more reliable than the older ones. Al from American Sport Bike explained to me what they were like before (brass bushings for cam bearings, complicated oil pump drive) and the updates I feel brought the engine into the 21st century or late 20th at least. I'd seriously consider trading mine in if I didn't have to go into a Harley dealership to get one.

I haven't reset my TPS in almost 30,000 miles, no issues at all.
