Does anyone know if a wider rear tire will fit on the stock swingarm of 2007 XB9R? I know it would'nt be much, if any, but I'm still curious..... It's come up in conversation a couple times. |

a 190 is the biggest you can fit on an XB stock setup. I believe that you have to remove the beltguards to fit a 190 though. |

Biggest is a 190/50. If you use a 190/55 it won't fit. I have a pilot on and its 190/50. My belt guards are intact and you can tell its larger. |

Thanks for the pic Bads1. Your bike is wild, is that a 190/50? Also, could you tell me where you got your license plate relocater kit from, what model etc. |

Yes,its a 190/50. And as far as the Swingarm plate relocator I designed what I wanted and had a friend make it for me. They are not for sale,its just a one off. |

Nice tire set-up. Looks larger without being ridiculous. You could make some $$$ with that license plate bracket, I'd buy one for sure. |

John, Good eye!!! After cutting my cheese grater years ago. I took the light and threw it in the tool box. Then one day I wanted to make a swingarm mount for my plate. I thought,to make it legal of sorts it needed to be lit. I remembered the light from the grater and incorporated it into the design.... work's great and almost like it belongs there. |

How does this affect the handling? I know the current trend in racing is for a larger rear for a bigger contact patch. But doesn't this wider tire slow the handling a little bit? Schmitty |

Dmp0001, Your right the one bike does run a 210 but it run's a 6.25 wheel. They widen wheels if a customer wants them done. As far as handling??? The 190 doesn't feel any different then the 180. The Buell wheel being a 5.5 was designed for a 180 but 190 will fit. |

Keep in mind a couple things here... Putting a wider tire on the same size wheel with the same sidewall will actually result in a smaller contact patch since the tire is pinched together a bit more. In other words, you force the bigger tire to curve more to fit the same wheel. Going from a 180 to a 190 probably makes almost no difference, but it's something to consider. Also, every tire (both brand and model) is going to be a different 'actual' width. I upgraded wheels and tires on my old sportster and went to a 160 rear from the stock 150. A Dunlop 160 wouldn't fit as it was actually 166mm wide, whereas a Metzeler did fit because it was only 161mm wide. Most tire companies publish all this info...but, as per my first point, they're based on the recommended wheel size. |

good lord that is a fantastic looking buell for sure nice work. I have a 190 rear on mine its all I have ever used the bike handles perfect. |

The one on that Euro site with the tiny seat and swingarm mounted plate is awesome -- man I wish Buell would take some cues from the stuff people are making and give us some options, or at least some of these people would be nice enough to make some extra ones the rest of us! Thanks Vic. Retrittion, I understand how you feel about parts for Buell. But at the same time be glad its the way it is also. See,if it was like any of japanese 4.The market is flooded with parts and therefore making it possible to get anything the next guy has. Buell enthusiast's make parts or have them made and being unique. It what makes the brand fun for me anyways. |

Thats for the wheel. Then you need a chain drive conversion. A different front drive sprocket etc. Said and done around 2500.00 |

I have both 190/50's and 190/55's mounted on my bikes (XBR's). The 190/50 looks wider as the profile is different. If the wide look is what you are after stick to the 190/50. If you run the 190/55 your bike will "drop in" a bit faster than the 190/50 but look narrower. If you do decide to run a 190/55 you will need to remove your hugger as the taller 55 will hit it. All of this info is from bikes running Pirelli Diablo III's. As for running a wider rim, I know a guy who makes a kit that can run a 240 Diablo. He also makes a chain conversion for the XB's. His company is Grand Stand Designes and his work has been in several magazines. Check him out. |

I run a 190 tyre on the track (because I get cast off race tyres free) and it works fine. However once the tyre gets hot it runs very close to the belt, better riders in hotter climates need to keep an eye on the tyre to belt clearance. |

What about a 170/60/17 rear tire ?? Better entry and grip at big lean angles ? I do not care for the "wide rear tire" look, only for performance. There is Michelin Pilot Power at 170/60/17 . Any thoughts / experience ? |
