The automatic link to American Sport Bike when you type it in can be defeated by inserting underlining or some such like: American_Sport_Bike. It's a pain. It's a "feature" of Badweb that really ought to be turned off for titles. |

Any time you type the letters A, S, B (but all together), you get American Sport Bike |

In that case here goes. Yes it does attach with double sticky foam tape. While I love the buckle guard, I hate the tape. It holds the guard out from the airbox a little bit. Here is a picture of my original installation with the tape. Hard to see but the tape is almost 1/8" thick.
I have since change to a kick ash air box. I transferred the buckle guard rather than buy a second one. The tape tour all to pieces when I took it off the first air box. After much scraping and Goo Gone, I managed to have both the buckle guard and my orange air box "foam tape free". I installed it on the new airbox with (4) #6 x 1/2" SS screws and four lock nuts. I like this installation much better. The buckle guard fits flush to the airbox instead of being raised up off the box by the thickness of the foam. Here is the best picture I have of that.
With the screws it is a quick and easy job to move it back and forth between air boxes every time I change the color of my bike. The second picture is not a very good angle but you can see the heads on a couple of screws if you look closely. The Guard and the carbon are beautiful. If it was me, I'd peel the foam tape off the back of the guard first thing and mount it tight to the airbox. I did try to mount it to the Kick-Ash airbox with glue, but was not successful. Probably not the right glue, but I now like the screw method. Again, the guard itself is awesome and really holds up to the abuse that scratches that part of the airbox. |

I've never seen a buckle guard that uses that thick foam tape... All the ones I've seen are adhesive-backed and lay flush on the airbox cover. I got mine from Al at American Sport Bike and I love it. Especially since I won it in a raffle at the BBQ in Buellton, CA in 2006! Free food, free buckle guard, good times. |

The thread title is now fixed and can be opened without linking you directly to American Sport Bike. |
