American just turned up with a black XB12S. Nice to know they nailed the launch on this one, since the XB9Rs were so fricking late. The amber doesn't look so bad in person, though I still don't care for it, and I'd prefer the black frame to be truly black, it's really kind of a dark charcoal color. Love the engine cases in that magnesium finish. Unfortunately some weenie laid out their XB9R demo and now they won't demo one of the 12s. Doh! |

Finally, Got 2 XB12S bikes in yesterday, one black, one red. I have a guy coming at noon today to buy the black one(I hope). Too bad the shop won't have them set up by the time I leave on vacation tomorrow morning, I'll have to wait til I get back to ride one, that is if Craig doesn't have them all sold by then! Some dealerships have the R, we just happened to get two S's. Would have been nice to get both, but I can't complain! What a fun bike! Craig Buell Cycle Center

I just want a set of the cinch/tie-down straps they use in the crates. Can't afford a new bike right now so hoping to just get a set of suspenders instead. Why do I have this image of Brian jumping up and down behind the truck saying hurry up and uncrate that thing. |

Hey Brian, Can you ask the driver if he's headed our way? (Ray Price HD/Buell) I've been bouncing off the walls waiting for my Racing Red XB12R to show up. It's become a running joke around here. Everytime I come back from lunch the sales guys tell me my bike arrived, only to follow up by saying it was damaged in shipping/already sold/etc. The guys in the detail shop are in the habit of telling me "no" before I even ask if the bike showed up. I'm hoping I get to see it before I go on vacation next week. Mike L. Ray Price HD/Buell parts/warranty admin. '99 M2 Cyclone (sold) '04 XB12R Firebolt (coming soon!) '94 Turbo Miata |

Ours are here! Both XB12S Lightnings, one Racing red and one Midnight black. They're still in the crate right now. Hopefully they'll get one setup by the end of the day. I can't wait to ride one! Mike L. Ray Price HD/Buell '99 M2 Cyclone (sold) '04 XB12R Firebolt (coming soon) |

Just uncrated a black XB12S and it now has pride of place by the front door. Wife says the last thing I need is a faster bike but I dunno. Steve Ford Schoch's H-D/Buell Stroudsburg, PA |

Anybody else notice the funky kickstand operation? Ours don't seem to fully extend until you set the bike on the stand, then they roll back slightly. I'm not sure what to make of it, I suppose it's more stable. Also, the clutch pull is noticably heavier than the XB9s. I certainly don't mind, I'll take a stiff clutch over the mushy crap on all the Japanese bikes I've ever ridden. I'm sure the magazines will have something to say about it. Overall I like it. The wheels look good in person and tie in nicely with the gold/orange lettering on the tank. The "magnesium tone" is scattered around the bike (cheese grater, handlebar clamp, etc.). The new belt guard has a nicer shape and actually leaves portions of the belt exposed. I just can't wait for mine to show up. Mike L.

I have heard the rumor that the Xb's have a heavy clutch pull. It's no heavier than my Sportster's clutch. Then again, I'm a lefty ...could have something to do with me not noticing. ChainSaw (mostly ambidexterous actually) |

My local HD shop has a 12-S in. (Sadly, I didn't get to ride) Sitting on the 12-S back to back with a 9-S I realized that the clutch pull IS somewhat heavier. Personally, I couldn't care less. So it takes a little muscle... But you know all the reviewers will whine about about it. |
