So, I went into the local HD Dealership last weekend, and order up a rear seat cowl for my XB12R. It came out to $43, and I thought "wow, that really cheap for a brand new seat cowl!". Well my order arrived today, and it turns out its only the plastic part. Doesnt have any of the brackets to mount it on the bike. Should I just return it and ask for the entire rear seat cowl assembly, or should I just see about getting the hardware to mount it? How much does the full assembly usually cost? I am a little upset about it since I even mentioned to the guy that the bike I had bought didnt come with a seat cowl, so I was ordering one. |

If you have the rear seat then you are in business. If you don't you need a seat too. The cowl slips over the seat. |

Woa it does? I have the rear seat. Any descriptions on how this is done, or is it pretty straight forward? I have no manuals for the bike =\. Thanks for the speedy reply! |

It is really straight forward. Just unlock the rear seat and remove it. I think it will be obvious to you how the cowl slips over the seat. If you have trouble with it let me know and I'll email you the pages from the Shop Manual (Message edited by doerman on January 04, 2008) |

also, if you never have a passenger, you can sell the pass seat, and rivet/bolt the seat cowl to the rear plastics D |
