I bought a 12R with the S top tree and Renthal bars. The riding position is nice. I think I would like it just a tad more aggressive. I am also 40, but if I could loose 30 pounds I would be tempted to go to the stock setup. My wife says it is the only Firebolt she has enjoyed riding. The swap does not seem as if it was too difficult. Good luck if you do it. |

The superbike bar conversion might be a good option. pricey though. 03-07 Superbike Handlebar Conversion, approx 3.5" up, 3" back. Complete kit, includes brake lines. Fits XB12R and XB9R. No fairing interference. Requires removal of ignition lock for mounting. See #16049 for tool to remove it. Note: 05 Firebolts have larger fork slider tubes, but the outer tube diameter is the same at the top triple clamp. This kit will fit the 05 XB-Rs. Price: $429.95

I'm average height and find "S" models terribly cramped. And the bars above with 3" back would also seem terribly cramped.I like 'em nearer the front axle, you should feel the reach on my 996! Anyway,i'd discourage such a mod..respecfully.. And i'm 42 (Message edited by ducxl on January 01, 2008) |

I have the Crossroads bars from American Sport Bike. They seem to work great. They seem to be the best of both worlds. Leo |

The helibars on an "R" are great on both the street and track. I liked them better than the Crossroads I had on an "S". |

hey guys i want to go the other way and put the 12R bars on an S? looks to me though that there may be an issue with the location of the instrument cluster. anybody tried this or have any info? |

I have all the stuff to change to S bars, or Protapers, minus the bars I'd sell for $280 top tree ignition bracket advance adapter riser for fat bars S front brake line S throttle cables (Message edited by bake on January 02, 2008) |

hey all thanks for the replys. went for a ride today and am back to focusing on the HELI BARS 320.00 at American Sport Bike (i think) and not such a dramatic change as the S bars. I dont have the money for two weeks so I have time! |

Cool beans. Everyone who has those Heli bars and have posted on this board have all said the same thing. That itty biddy little bit of measurement (1" up, 1.5" back?) makes a HUGE difference for the better. |
