I just finished installing a new headlight it is an acerbis diamond knock off. I wanted to get rid of my turn signals and run them in the headlight, So I went with this model. I think it turned out well, I'm just a little on the fence about the stock windscreen. I feel like I need to add some thing to it. What do you guys think? thanks, Br8knnex UPDATED PICS BELOW!!!! It's different. Reminds me of some cartoon "Bad Guy" but I can't think of who at the moment. Marvin the Martian? |

Looks great with your flyscreen Br8knnex.
Did a little whittling on mine. Oh, and the lights work much better without the clear lenses. (Message edited by buellfighter on December 27, 2007) |

UPDATE: I have a new version. Like I said in my first post I wasn't feeling the windscreen, it was missing something. I figured out a new way to mount the headlight and to incorporate the windscreen. pics to come in the morning. I tried to take some last night, but you couldn't see a thing. thanks As for the install, it was a pain in the ass. I had to do a lot of cutting and shaping so that I would be able to use most of the stock parts. The headlight only ran me about 85 shipped and it came with mounting brackets that had to be highly modified(they would work to mount them, but not how I have them ran). If you have the time, I think its a nice mod. It def. makes the Lightning look even more BAD ASS! |

Northernyankee, mine is a Acerbis Diamond headlight and ordered it from Tucker/Rocky. Go to Acerbis site for info. |

That is cool. That one straight shot of the front gives me an unnerving feeling that it's staring at me! |

I like it a lot. But I think these lights are an ambiguous cry for a Firebolt fairing or conversion. |

i was looking into the same exact setup, i figured i will just wait until my extended warranty is up on 10/2008. was wiring the headlights hard? i thought they came with rubber mounting brackets to attach to the forks, looks like you used a different mount... |

thanks again for the comments Ferris thanks, though the firebolt is nice, these headlights still give it an aggressive style with the "naked street fighter" look. Gambit The wiring was very easy, i just cut the plug off of the old headlight and turn signals and wired them up to the new headlight, then it was just plug and play. the Acerbis diamond comes with the rubber mounts. i went with the headlight in the above link because i would be able to mount them further out. that way i can incorporate the windscreen into it. Mtch They are only 20 watts, but they are very bright. they are almost like an Ion bulb. I have not rode it at night yet, but i have had them on in the night and they are pretty bright with the 2 lights on. I was thinking if upgrading the lights to a HID, but it depends on how they look once i take it out for a night spin. Right now its about 25 degrees out side at night so i may have to wait a bit. I will keep you posted. |

Any pics of how you did the mounting bracket? From the pics it looks like you cut off the end that mounts to the forks and then made your own plate to mount to the headlights. Am I on the right track? |

I'm about to remove the headlight to make some new brackets and to repaint. I will take some more pics and post pics of the fork mounts along with the light mounts. I did cut down the brackets they came with. the way i mounted them is a lot stronger. If needed i can also make a template of the brackets. let me know. thanks again. |

My buddy has those lights mounted on his F4i stunter, and he refuses to ride at night because of the poor lighting. It is however enough light for a bicycle. |

I took the bike out last night. I have my headlights wired so that when i have the high beam on both headlights work. I thought they were pretty bright. I thought they were almost compatible with the stock head lights. My friend said they looked bright as hell when i came back home. If the head lights are still not bright enough, you could always do like i was going to do. Buy one of those HID kits and wire it up to the high beam, or even both. It would be extremely bright then. |

I was talking to a fellow bueller(Northernyankee), and he is planning to do this headlight swap. I told him i would give him a hand. So while we do his, i will take several pics of the process. then i can type up a "how to" for anyone else who is interested in doing this mod. I will also be making a template for the brackets. so if you need it please email me and i can send it over. i will keep everyone posted. |
