I was removing my spark plugs on my XB12SS today as part of my 15,000 mile service. When I went to remove the front plug connector it came apart in my hand. The metal in the connector was corroded and broke with just a slight bending of the wire. The connection on the coil end was shiny and looked fine. The rear plug wire also looks fine. I will be replacing both as soon as I find an open shop.

I seldom ride the rain (what little of it there is in San Diego). I can only guess that condensation and maybe some road spray caused the corrosion. What can I do to prevent this in the future? Should I smear some sort of dielectric grease on everything when I reassemble it?
