I found the following information on "another forum" regarding the TPS reset for '08 XB models. It is identical to what I have seen here, except for the final steps of cycling the ignition switch OFF/ON several times. Is this an important step to "lock-in" the adjustment possibly? Originally posted by GrahamNZ: According to the Service Manual, with the '08 models the TPS resetting is accomplished without the need for a plug-in diagnostic tool: Have the Run/Stop button set to Run. Turn the ignition key to the On position but do not crank or start the engine. Open the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second. Close the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second. Repeat the throttle open/close procedure a total of three times in succession. Turn the ignition key to Off/On/Off/On/Off in succession to complete the procedure. |

Moderators, I appologise....I had intended to post this question in the Knowledge Vault under engine electronics. Please re-locate this post as appropriate. Thanks, Harry |

Hmm, I don't recall reading that part, but maybe it is in there. Unfortunately, I sold MY 08 service manual to a customer because the new order hasn't come in, and now I don't have one. They should be here in a few days so I can look that up and confirm. AL |

Key on/off cycle is not necessary. |

Thanks to both of you for you prompt responses and for clearing up this issue for me. This type of interaction from extremely knowledgable individuals, as well as from the manufacturer itself, makes the "Buell experience" far more rewarding than that of any other motorcycle manufacturer. |

is it necessary to let the bike go thru its intiial cycle when the key is turned on, before starting the reset proceedure? or should it be done immediately upon turning the key on? |
