I recently bought a set of used saddle bags for a Lightning Long, but didn't receive the installation instructions. I hoping one of you out there has these still laying around. A photocopy of the instructions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance and I need these for the Lightning LONG model. |

If they mount like an S saddlebag, the front velcro loops go around one of the passenger peg drops and the back velcro goes around the rear reflector bracket. If you don't have the reflectors anymore, no big deal, they'll stay in place just fine. Mine did. |

Thanks guys - I figured that stuff out. The question I'm having is the Ss saddle bags have 2 steel brackets with double sticky tape on one side. I'm not exactly sure how these figure into the install. I might just have to spend some time this weekend screwing around with these brackets and see what I can come up with. Thanks again! |

Those are reflector relocation brackets. Makes the reflectors visible when the bags are mounted and also make the bike ugly when there are no bags. |

On my XB9s the brackets act to reposition the rear reflectors back and to the outside, so that they are visible with the bags attached. They instruct you to carefully remove the reflectors, which are stuck on and stick them on the bracket, then bolt the bracket where the reflectors were. I just bought two new reflectors and better fitting bolts than the ones provided. If you check my profile you can see the reflectors. It all makes sense now! I removed the reflectors and bobbed the rear tail. With those pieces missing, I couldn't figure how those brackets figured into the install. I had the bags mounted on the bike this eve. and they seem to work fine without the reflector mounts. Thanks for all the input! |
