Anybody had any issues with this. I noticed a little oil splattered on my cover and investigated. I found some oil at the bottom of my oil cooler. Cleaned it off, made sure the hoses were tight and went out to see if I cured it. Well it is still leaking. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what it is. | ||

Hasn't happened to me but I have heard of those fittings leaking before. You can do a quick search and find more cases of this and I think Buell acknowledged the fact by changing to the new quick style on the 08's | ||

I get what I guess you would call "wheeping" like crying they call it, at those fittings on the bottom of my oil cooler as well. It was bad when I got the bike just really because it wasnt cleaned by hand...... ever, I wipe off my ride almost after every fill-up. I'm thinking a little bit of teflon gasket tape at those fittings the next time I drain the oil for service? mine has never actually formed a drip though, just a little film around the fittings. Yeah, I have never seen it drip on the floor. But if I wipe my finger across the bottom of the cooler, I get about enough for a drip. Ill try the teflon tape next oil change and see if that helps. I just hate the mess on the chin fairing and now on my cover. | ||

Mine weeps a little bit, but it's hardly noticeable until road debris sticks to it. Lucky for me, I'm not a person who has to have his bike clean at all times. In fact, I've washed it twice since I've owned it, which has now been a year. It is usually washed while at the dealer for service though. | ||

Mine was a "weeper" too. Quick, easy, cheap fix with 1 round of teflon tape. Tim, Washing motorcycles doesn't get near the top of my priority list either  G2 | ||

Mine is a constant weeper since new. Never enough to drip but just enough to keep a layer of dirt stuck to the fittings. I also heard of people trying to snug up the fitting and it ended up making them leak worse. So I just left it alone, when it gets worse I would look into something. If anything I think it leaks less now haha | ||

Make sure to hold the aluminum cooler side "nut" as you tighten the fitting. Both of my XB's leaked a little there and went away with a little proper tightening. | ||

My 06 Ulysses was a leaker from the start and the dealer was never able to fix. At one time it ruined a pair of boots, well not the pair just the left one. One of the reasons I traded it for an 08. | ||

I don't remember when my '06 Uly started leaking, soon after I bought it though in May '06. The dealer snugged up the lines at my 1k or 5k, slowed it to a wipe-able weep which I dealt with for 20+k until a few months ago when the oil cooler blew. Replaced on warranty, the "tech" forgot to tighten the lines so by the time I got home my new Sidis were spattered. I backed the line fittings off and refastened them correctly, no problem since. 38k now on the bike. Ham-fisted HD wrenches be damned, I now work on my Uly except for warranty stuff (been plenty) which forces me to the stealership. You guys should take a closer look at the cooler itself, might be faulty like mine was... | ||

Yeah, my 06 Lightning long has just started leaking a bit also. Enough of a drip that if I don't wipe it down every couple of days I get splatter on my boot and the chin fairing. It appears to be coming from a little spot weld on the bottom of the cooler. The bike has just under 20k miles. | ||

Laugh as you might but I thought that I had one of those non dripping dirty film leaks on both of my XBs. Happens on the same connector on both bikes. Took a long look at the material and realized it was just really tiny flakes of tire material coming off the tire and sticking to the hottest of the two oil lines. In my case they were not leaks at all. | ||

But then all my Buells/Harleys have had leaky clutch cables at one time or another.   | ||

My oil cooler lines, right where it goes into the cooler, weeps some. I just wipe it once a week. I didn't bother tightening it as I didn't want to disturb the fit as long as it wasn't dripping. After 13k miles, the weeping has decreased dramatically. | ||

I look at this as a unique feature of a buell XB. pfffft! My 2004 XB12R does not weep or leak anything, anywhere. Nertz to that! A properly assembled and maintained motorcycle should not leak. | ||
