I have seen some dealers selling XB's real cheap. Makes me wonder....

Are they not selling....?

Or is there some new coming out in 2 mos and they want to clear out the on hand supply?

If you already have one, does it matter? No.

If you want one, is now the time to buy one? Yes.

If you're one of the people that would be pissed off because you 'only' got a XB9 instead of the fabled XB12, ignore both of the above. In fact, never buy anything, because everything goes obsolete.

Darthene... Shhh! I am one of those sorry cheapskates that are hoping to score an XB9S for $5-6000 when the "next big thing" comes out.

Remember that Nikon Coolpix 950 that Court was so excited to see for $900? I got mine for $300 as soon as the Coolpix 990 came out. The 950 is still a kick ass little camera, and the XB9 will always be a kick ass little bike.

So all you latest greatest bleeding edge gotta have the newest whizzy blinkin thing, rush right out and get an XB9S *NOW*. Hurry! Hurry! In fact get *two*.

And break it in real gentle like, OK? ;) Or just totally toast the engine and depreciate another couple grand, so I can just ship the whole thing out to Aaron upon purchase.

Bill "feeding off the trailing parts of the bleeding edge for as long as I can remember"...

yeah, I would be pissed at myself(wouldn't lose any sleep over it) if they came out with a 12. I waited 2yrs before buying my 9s, and if I knew that they were making a 12, I could have waited another 6 months... I'm saying it would have been nice to know (if it even happens)
yes, there is always something newer and (maybe) better coming out.(I'm in IT so I know all about the bigger, better, faster) At least with PC crap, there is a roadmap so you have some idea whats next and when.
some people are happy with the power and thats great, there are always going to be some people who want more power, and there are some who will never be happy..
do I need more? maybe not
do I want more, hell yes!
do I still like my 9s, yes.
would I give it up, no.
I'm just going to nallinize it!

Chris,
Is is common industry wide to reduce the price of last year's models in preparation for the new stuff comming out. I bought my first '97 Cyclone, brand new off the showroom floor for thousands less than the '98 model sitting next to it. There was very little, virtually no difference between the two. I was all due to factory incentives on the older models. Lucky me. :)

In case you didn't know, Buell just recently released a $1K reduction via factory incentive on all 2003 XB9 models.

I personally know of an XB bike that a dealer is taking a significant loss on just to get it out the door.......Like a thou below dealer cost! get this, as they offset the loss by the gain in not advertising the sale? Now don't get me wrong the Owner of the dealership is good friends with my friend buying the bike but below cost? and yes I know what dealer cost is! why would they feel the need to get rid of their inventory that bad? The dealer told me two weeks ago that they weregetting rid of them at cost, now this?

Some thing wicked this way comes!!!!!!!

Dealer incentives only have to make sense on paper. When you're looking at the bottom line cash takes priority over reality at times.

Letting a "new" one go OUT THE DOOR for $7400 doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it!

How cheap is real cheap? I noticed in the Phoenix newspaper that 5 dealers were selling new 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa's for $8,500.00. Pretty amazing.

I checked the Buell website before I went shopping and the XB9S listed for $8995.00. The dealer I went to wanted to start at $9995.00 I said no way-list price (I felt like a sucker bottoming out at list !) After a consultation with the GM the deal went. In my opinion $9000.00 ain't bad for a really trick bike.

hahahahaahahahahaahaha

Blake, can't you just make that your sig line?

hahahahahaahaha hahahahahaahahaha

Are we on the XB board? the Aluminum referenced above is for an XB....we don't share a Storm Front....Do we need a new thread for things like that each time they come to us?

It's a topic he knew I was looking at, following bread crumbs kind of thing????? I E-mailed him privately an answer by the way. But what the hell I thought I'd post this anyhow!

All hail the Goderator!

Oh Yeah,........ Topic?!

hahahahaha

does anyone really think the 9's won't sell when something bigger hits the floors? and what do you all think the price break should be between a standard 9 and the possible newer bigger motor? if there is to be one? maybe that thousand dollar drop in MSRP is to make room for a larger displacement offering at or near the financial balance point projected for maximum profit at units sold vs. cost?

Thanks, Shazam.

How's this, Blake?

I paid $9,995 for mine. Worth every penny. Topic?

Thank you. I very much appreciate everyone's attempts to stay on topic.
