Sara my fiance' has an 07 Scg. I was wondering how soft I can set-up the supension for her without over compromising the handling. She is a good rider, not an aggressive one. She weighs in around 160 (please don't let on that I let this out). I ride my Uly (and all my previous bikes) with the suspension a little stiff so I am not familiar with the softer settings and handling characteristics of such. I am asking because some of the roads we are on she says the bike bounces her around a great deal. I presently have the suspension set-up according to the owners manual for her weight. We are going away for a week of riding in the Mt.s of WV,so I want her to be comfortable and also enjoy the superb handling of this fine bike. We do very very little superhighway riding. She also is not overly savy about suspension settings so I am not sure I can ask her about handling as easily as confort. Thanks |

I don't believe the owners manual is "cg" specific. The settings listed are for the regular suspension. I set mine up to the settings in the manual, and it beat the hell out of me. Softened it up a bit, and it's a whole different animal(better). Haven't changed it much at all since then(2004). Here's an idea of what I did: Set to specs in manual, Back off front pre-load 2 lines, Back off rear pre-load 1 notch, Back off ALL compression and rebound settings 1/8 to 1/4 turn. This is only a starting point, and further adjustments will likely have to be made. This worked for me, mileage may vary, blah blah... Good luck! (p.s. I weigh 165) (Message edited by Tank_Bueller on September 29, 2007) |

I have my cg set close to but not quite to the cg specific chart. The rear preload is as the chart suggests. Front preload is turned out about 1/8 of a turn more. comp & rebound are turned out 1/8th of a turn more as well. On the back end I turned the rebound out 1/8th more than the chart suggests and the comp 1/4 turn more. It works well for me when going around bumpy corners and traversing really crappy roads in general. |
