Every jacket I own has a gromet and mp3 pocket. But to answer your question it is built into the GPS. |

I generally use my jacket's inside pocket, either that or the pocket on my messenger bag (both my Buell bag and my Ogio have the rubber pass-through for the cord, my aerostitch bag does not). I have play lists on both the ipod nano that I borrow from my son and on my RCA opal mp3 player so there is no reason to mess with the controls other than the ability to switch it off, which I do by turning off the chatterbox that I feed it into my helmet through. The chatterbox does occasionally come in handy for communicating with my passenger or another bike too. It's a nice "side feature" |

I occasionally use my ipod when commuting. For a while I would just set a playlist and stuff the ipod in my jacket pocket, but that meant I couldn't reach the ipod controls without pulling over and fumbling around a bit. Recently I've just been sliding it in the map pocket on top of my tank bag. It's a little hard to work the click-wheel through the clear map pocket, but I can at least pause the audio quickly if needed. |

I do what Chris does. I run the wire down my shirt and just press buttons through my pants... Giggity, giggity. |

I have an armband for my iPod Nano and wear it on my right wrist. I can still use the click wheel with my gloves on. |

I use the inside pocket to put my IPOD in and run the earphones up into my helmet. The plug type buds are far more comfortable for me. I need to get some with an in line volume control though... |

I did a week long trip in France, and the ipod was great. I put it in a ziplock bag in my jacket breast pocket with a RF remote transmitter fixed in place using an elastic band and the remote attached to the handle bars for easy access to the controls. Worked awesome! |

I have a pair of in-ear plugs that came with my RCA that work really well. I have tried them instead of using the chatterbox, but I ran into issues with turning them off. The chatterbox mounted on the helmet is very easy to kill when I needed, so "that's how I roll" Shure e2c plugs always get good reviews, so do Sennheiser, and etymotic headphones. However those brands in general range in price from $100 plus. On the cheaper end skull candy has some decent plugs as well as Vmoda bass frequency head phones, Are a lower dollar alternative for those of us on a tight budget. The Koss plugs with the foam ear plug on it can be modified to work like a much more expensive pair of headphones, and they can be found for less than $20 on sale, so they are a viable option for someone hunting for a true bargain. |

O.K. I'm going to try this again. Diablobrian, how do you like your chatterbox? What kind of distance can you get bike to bike and is the reception good? I've been thinking a while about getting one but have never had any first hand info. I tried to post earlier today at work and it said that this site had crashed. |

The chatterbox works nicely, I have the GMRS model and range is good, measured in miles even back on Mt Palomar. With the Jardine on it the VOX is useless beyond about 45mph and I have to go with a PTT trigger. No big deal since I don't talk much while I ride. The PTT also means I don't "key-up" singing along with the music. I got the chatterboxes back in San Diego because I used to do group rides and we used radios to keep the leader and tail end of the group in contact. It kept the leader from running away, and brought help back if someone broke down. That was 5 years ago, and back then we tried several radios before deciding that the chatterboxes were the best for our purposes. Things may have changed since then, in fact I understand Autocom makes a killer system that may out perform the chatterbox. If you are a tech-geek it is a GREAT time to be alive! |

I'm using a zumo, the mp3 works great. However, once hooked XM up, I don't use it much. Etymotic er6i earphones, best I've ever used. Not cheap, though. |

I have a little Samsung mp3 player with ear plug style earphones. Works really good. I keep it either in my inside pocket of my jacket or in the front pouch of my tank bag. I like it in the tank bag a little more because I can adjust it while riding. |

Diablobrian, how do you like your chatterbox? What kind of distance can you get bike to bike and is the reception good? I've been thinking a while about getting one but have never had any first hand info. I use a chatterbox as well. The VOX can be hit or miss depending on the wind noise in your helmet, and if your exhaust is loud enough you may have set it so you more or less have to yell to get it key up. I've gotten into the habbit of using the PTT button all the time, which is no big deal. I don't bother with the remote one they include, i just use the one on the unit itself. Reception is decent, audio quality is passable, range - I'd say a mile or two in a relatively urban setting. They go longer than you should need. Autocom's stuff is really nice, but you'll spend LOADS more for it than the Chatterbox. |

Thanks for the info, it will still be a little while before I really start to invest in one. My oldest is six and I would like to have a set to talk back and forth on the bike. She is full of questions and it won't wait 'til the next gas stop. |

+1 for the Etymotic ER6i ear plug/phones. Work as good as any earplugs, with the benefit of music too! I have a Zumo 550 also. |

The way I look at it is: if I'm going to listen to the ipod, it's probably a commute or longer trip...in that case I'll have my tank bag...it's a Chicane Baja...there's a little stretch band on the top (i think a pen holder)...and I have my ipod shuffle, shoved in there. slides in and out easily. |
