Hi Guy's ,just put Michelin pilot powers on and can't tell if there are is any coating on them. the last set (stock dunlop 207's) it was easy to tell by looking at the tires and riding. i thought i read somewhere that not all tire manufacturers use a release agent and my old bones don't want to find out the hard way...thanks in advance |

be careful and scrub them in. i have new pilot powers on both my XB's and they will slide a little at first if you dont break them in. |

You need to scrub them in and have a couple of heat cycle before you get too aggressive. Healing those bones makes it well worth being a little cautious. Neil S. |

What about..... a dirty big smoky burnout to get it broken in Well, that works for the rear. Then, when the front is still slick, uhh, the only thing that comes to mind is "whheeeeeeeeee......... crash!" |

I ride the bike to a paved parking lot and do some tight figure eights. Five minutes or so of this should get you good to go. |

It's my understanding that Michelin is the only manufacturer that cleans the tires of mold release. When I took a race school, I bought a set of Pilot Powers from the instructor who also mounted them. He said no scuffing is needed and I had no problems at all. Since then I have run few mores sets on the street and at the track and have no issues with mold release slickness. All that said, I still choose to scuff them in a little before I run them hard. Great tires. |
