I am going in a couple days to have my BIke 05XB12Scg Emissions tested in Japan. It has been converted exactly to a stock Japanese Buell. (Exhaust,ECM etc) However I have a K&N and stock air filter. Do you think it would run CLEANER for the test with or with out the K&N filter? Thanks |

personally I would think you would be ok either way but I would do it stock just to be safe. |

Not really sure about this, as I have never tried to pass the Japanese emission tests. However, the stock air cleaner is slightly more restrictive than the K+N, so it could reduce the amount of emissions: that is the way it was designed. I would put the stocker in just to play it safe. Just takes 15 minutes or so to do so. |

Don't know if it still works, and you didn't hear this from me. Back in the late 80's when I lived in L.A. we would add a little alcohol or methane(mothballs)to the tank before testing, it seemed to lower our emissions a touch so we'd pass. This was done in big block Ford street cars that clearly wouldn't have passed any other way. I am not sure if it works with todays test equipment though. Again, I didn't say it, and you shouldn't read it. (Message edited by luxor on August 30, 2007) |

OH NO not moth balls! Not good. I'd run the K&N filter, it'll make the bike run a bit lean. Lean is how the bike makers pass tests. |
